Heute wird jede Trockenheit sofort zur Beweisführung für den Klimawandel. Atomkraftwerke stehen still, weil Kühlwasser fehlt. Wälder brennen. Und die öffentliche Debatte dreht sich im Kreis.

Ein Film aus dem Bundesarchiv zeigt den Sommer 1949: breite Sand- und Steinbänke, Schiffe auf Grund, Fährenrampen wie Steilwände, Pegel, die für so niedrige Stände nicht ausgelegt waren. Der Tiefstand unterbot sogar den von 1921.

Mir scheint, dass Wetterextreme mit Hochwasser und Dürre schon immer Teil der Geschichte waren. Der Film macht das ohne Pathos und ohne heutige Alarmrhetorik sichtbar.

Warum wird dieser historische Kontext so selten erwähnt?
