Today’s the day when I get to explain to our new EA that Ghislaine Maxwell’s father is the reason an academic journals market exists, thus in some way the reason we have jobs. Let’s see how this goes…
In honor of the late Becky Morton, the journal's co-founder and giant in the filed, we are inviting abstracts for a special issue in her name and guest edited by @TorreyShine, @j_a_tucker, and @rkwrice. Deadline Oct 31!
Support legislation that would require institutions to reach a 75% tenure-track workforce to receive federal funding. Read the MLA statement and contact Senator Patty Murray, chair of the drafting committee, to advocate for this law. https://t.co/ISyHGD4SeA
We're hiring! This is a great entry-level role for anyone interested in HSS research, academia, and/or publishing. We're hoping for a diverse pool of applicants. Please share and feel free to reach out with questions. https://t.co/UrffIVaWUi
For @guardian, I wrote about historical trans--and, in particular, non-binary--identities in a new book by @activisthistory, conservatives' terrible arguments about trans people, why it matters how we talk about historical figures, and more: https://t.co/8ggHG7pZB0
Just published! DOGOPOLIS presents a surprising source for urban innovation in the history of New York, London, and Paris: human-canine relationships. #InternationalDogDay @SniffThePastDog https://t.co/7cbJYUw9j6
I really appreciate this paper reporting a negative result in philosophy. I wonder what it would be like if publications like this were more common. https://t.co/Lb3cv30df7
@lilneuffy I'm 100% with you. (And that was my quote in the original tweet.) This discourse about it has felt cathartic, but I can't totally escape feeling like a fool!
@Hauske Absolutely. I was told that, I was given healthy precautions, and I still did it. I loved the education. The things that left me unsettled and angry are structural, even beyond (though not excluding) U of C admin. I'm glad AHP's piece captures some of that nuance.
