Don’t want your take on politics, but would love your thoughts on the game last night. Follow Detroit sports teams but passionate about the Red Wings. #LGRW
Wings are not going to get value for Larkin. Nothing close to what he was for the team. Just a retread and a later round draft pick. You can bitch about it all you want but that’s how it’s gonna play out.
@lgrw_Tony@Dan_Powers_@EmptyNettersPod Can we fire the owner? Holy shit has Chris made a mess of things? Ruined the Tigers AND the Red Wings. That’s a feat.
@RedWingDiehards@NHLRumourReport Personally I am not buying access to the local FanDual successor. This team won’t be worth watching. Door mat of the Atlantic.
True that. However, he was damn near unbeatable in January which gave the Wings the lead they surrendered in March. I would argue the team is not on the doorstep. Not even close really, WITH Larkin in the lineup. My point being this team was in real trouble before Larkin called it quits, which probably is a factor in Larkin wanting out.
@LimehouseKyle@GrindLinePod Without Anderson totally standing on his head, this team couldn’t even pretend to be on the doorstep and now it’s one more high skill guy we need. In the Atlantic Division. Excuse me if my faith in Yzerman’s ability to savage this mess is a little tattered.
No I don’t. GR was unceremoniously bounced from the playoffs 2 years in a row. Yzerman has an army of soft, mediocre players most of whom will never play regularly in the NHL. Realistically the team’s window is now 5-7 years from now, if the team can cobble together something for Larkin. It’s a depressing time to be a Wing fan.
They need half a team with Larkin. There are major holes with Larkin. Without him, I don’t see how anything other than a complete redo leads to anything other than the mediocrity we have seen the last few seasons. This group ain’t it. We have a few pieces in the pipeline that are interesting, but they won’t be ready for several years anyway. Time to face reality.
