@PaulaKlipsch Thank you! We're so proud to celebrate this milestone with the many researchers, partners and Boilermakers who make PICR's work possible. 💛🖤
🚨 NEWS: The Purdue Institute for Cancer Research has secured $9.4M in renewal of its National Cancer Institute (@theNCI) Cancer Center Support Grant.
The award extends nearly five decades of NCI designation and positions PICR to reach 50 consecutive years of recognition in 2028.
One of only 8 NCI-designated Basic Laboratory Cancer Centers nationwide. The only one in Indiana. https://t.co/ml1ktcN1nA
PICR is one of those few. And its recent renewal will extend Purdue's record of uninterrupted federal recognition that now spans nearly five decades and places the institute on course for its 50th anniversary as an NCI-designated center in 2028. https://t.co/oSezSG3gbX
Only 8️⃣ institutions in the country hold NCI designation as Basic Laboratory Cancer Centers. They are a critical, irreplaceable part of the nation's cancer research infrastructure, dedicated to answering the fundamental questions that make progress in the fight against cancer possible.
The complexity of cancer has long outpaced what any single discipline can address, and the way researchers are trained must reflect that reality.
The Purdue Institute for Cancer Research has received a five-year National Cancer Institute (@theNCI) T32 award to launch the Purdue Interdisciplinary Cancer Research Training (PICRT) program, Purdue's first NIH-funded doctoral training program dedicated to cancer research. https://t.co/Gt4uLtkcYE
Led by Dorothy Teegarden and Danzhou Yang, the program will prepare the next generation of scientists for the collaborative, cross-disciplinary challenges of modern cancer research.
🏆 Congratulations to Purdue Institute for Cancer Research member Deborah Knapp on receiving Purdue University’s Morrill Award, the institution’s highest faculty honor.
Knapp was recognized for excellence in research, teaching and engagement that reflects the spirit of Purdue’s land-grant mission.
Knapp's comparative oncology research continues to shape how scientists understand and combat cancer across species.
Nadia Lanman and her collaborator, Ananth Grama—using the resources from RCAC—are working to develop technologies that can predict individual responses to certain cancers, with the ultimate goal of making digital twins of individual patients.

Today, we join @AACI_Cancer for our annual Joint Hill Day in support of cancer research. At this crucial time, you can help by contacting your Members of Congress and asking them to support vital funding for @NIH and @theNCI. https://t.co/pZo3bEUHnO

🇺🇸 Purdue Institute for Cancer Research Director Andrew Mesecar joined colleagues from the @IUCancerCenter in Washington, D.C., today for @AACI_Cancer / @AACR Hill Day to advocate for strong, sustained NIH and NCI funding that powers cancer research, including across Indiana’s leading research institutions.
That investment drives discoveries from foundational laboratory science to advances that shape the future of cancer care.
In FY2025 alone, NIH-funded awards in Indiana generated $1.1 billion in economic activity.
A new multicenter clinical utility study is evaluating how the PanCystPro assay may help guide care decisions for patients with pancreatic cystic lesions, which are known precursors to pancreatic cancer.
The technology was developed by Purdue researcher and PICR member V. Jo Davisson and commercialized through Amplified Sciences. https://t.co/zq1gcD2QfJ

⏳We only need 11 more gifts — no matter how big or small — to beat our total from last year! #PurdueDayofGiving
Donate to cancer research at Purdue before midnight tonight: https://t.co/kRQT7F5P7W
This #PurdueDayofGiving, our next victory starts with Boilermaker Heroes like Joe Tesmer! His generous gift will help advance groundbreaking discoveries that improve how we detect, prevent, and treat cancer and bring hope to patients around the world.
Thank you, Joe! 🎗️ #PurdueCancerResearch
@TrevorPeters__@JohnPurdueClub@PurdueforLife@LifeAtPurdue Thank you, Trevor and Dr. P — for not only your support of cancer research and other impactful units across campus, but for the incredible Boilermaker spirit you bring to Purdue that lifts our whole community up year-round. 💛🖤
🎗️🩷 From awareness to action, @ZTAFraternity continues to lead.
ZTA has created a lasting legacy of student-driven philanthropy at #Purdue. Their recent $25K gift to the Zeta Tau Alpha Breast Cancer Research Endowment during #PurdueDayofGiving helps advance discoveries that lead to earlier detection, innovative therapies, and better outcomes for patients facing breast cancer.
Thank you, Zeta Tau Alpha, for your generosity, leadership, and dedication to moving cancer research forward.
