@HockeySeanie As a leafs fan idk wtf that is. I’d see it as:
To Chi: knies
To tor: 4th OA + Korchinski + something small (prospect/pick)
This is also assuming Stenberg is gone at 4. If he’s at 4 no way Chicago trades the pick
@HaggertyU Lmao hockey isn’t as confusing as you make it man 😂
At current pace, there will be more small offensive d-men than there is spots for them to be effective. The supply is skyrocketing and demand is really only 1-3 per team at most. I’m not saying go sign a bunch of Tyler myers’
@HaggertyU For the record I also absolutely hate when teams draft 6’7 guys who suck for the same argument. There is a middle ground between getting the best players and building a well rounded team and I’d say in the draft taking best players regardless of current team build is right move
@HaggertyU “Statistically” there is one single defensemen under 6ft in the last 5 years playing a regular shift for the Cup winner
Now do I think there’s some rule you can’t win with a couple? No. But I question if there’s gonna be room for 5+ first rounders a year who fit this profile
@HaggertyU It will be entertaining that’s for sure. They definitely have a place but are there enough places for how many are coming into the NHL?
I’d take a look at the only two teams playing currently and which style of defensemen they prefer before we go overboard on this 🤷♂️
@Chi_Prospects@frank_seravalli “Uh yeah Jim, the guy who’s been told he’s going #1 will go #1, the 2nd ranked guy or the top dman thats a team need will go 2, and then either the top Center, dman or winger available will go 3. But that’s just my opinion”
@mirageofwins@frank_seravalli@USHL NHL I’m sure will help early on but they aren’t gonna be willing to sink money for 5+ years. So unless these teams magically become financially stable quick there is just no way it works
The NHL should stop worrying about the USHL and focus on the CHL->NCAA->NHL pipeline
@thatssoleafy77@nylanderthews I agree.
Had EDM pre mcdavid + Drai.
Had ANA pre Carlsson, Gauthier & Sennecke.
Terrible teams but he had young players playing good those years (zegras, mctavish, hall, eberle).
Has succeeded pretty much everywhere he’s been outside the NHL also
@JLazzy23 Tough call for me. There’s guys who were objectively better players for longer who aren’t/won’t be in (guy like Giroux). At the same time the heights of hart + conn smythe would put him with all time company
@nylanderthews My theory is that Chayka is all in on Carle at this point. If Carle is not leaving college the plan shifts to a lesser known alternative for less $ & term
I think Chayka would prefer to not tie himself long term to any coach that is not named David Carle rn
@LassStats@JimBiringer@revingev I’m a leafs fan and would love if McKenna became rantanen, but that’s just not who he is. Mikko was 6’4 210 at the same age. Even with maturity he’s never going to be a cycle/down low threat like mikko
just different players
@PMike96608721@NHLRumourReport Probably, but if San Jose thinks any of Verhoeff, Reid or Carels are going to be number 1s they will take them. All depends on there evals which we obviously don’t know.
