🚨 BREAKING: Tom Aspinall has announced that he is VACATING the UFC heavyweight title
"Ongoing complications with my eyes mean I cannot get medically cleared to fight right now.
I’ve had multiple surgeries, accidents and infections, and done everything possible to get back to competing.
I had previously agreed to a fight date and was back sparring, feeling great and ready to compete when an accident caused further damage to my right eye. This means more time away from the sport, and right now, the timing of my return is unclear.
I know there have been questions about why I’ve been quiet. I’ve always followed the advice of the UFC and focused on my recovery while we’ve tried to make this happen.
I’ve now made the decision to vacate the heavyweight title. I’ve asked the UFC to allow me to make this statement because I don’t want to hold the heavyweight division up. I know what it’s like to have your career put on hold and I want the other fighters to have the opportunity to compete for the title.
The UFC and Hunter have been informed every step of the way and have seen the tests, procedures and medical information relating to my eyes. We have worked closely with different doctors and specialists to try and make my return happen, but unfortunately, it’s simply not possible right now.
I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve chased this dream since I was 10 years old.
I’m not done.
Stepping away from the title is not stepping away from the sport or the dream. I’ll continue doing everything I can to get healthy, get cleared and get back to competing as soon as possible.
What makes this particularly difficult is that many of the complications I’m dealing with are a result of fouls that changed the course of my career. Fighters rely on officials to enforce the rules and protect us in those moments, and it’s hard to still be dealing with the consequences today.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this absolute nightmare.
I’ll be back as soon as I’m medically able to be."
Valentina Shevchenko was just the third least inactive UFC champion (due to injury) before she was stripped of her UFC title
- The second least inactive fighter is Tom Aspinall at 315 days
- The most inactive fighter currently is Kayla Harrison at 455 days
Since I stirred up a hornet’s nest of AI hatred today, I’ll add a little more :) Just so you know. I don’t work for any company. I’m not working on any game. So you have nothing to boycott guys :) I’m retired for now, sipping whiskey, and having a great time, so I don’t give a fuck. The whole AI situation is really funny. A very vocal group of people hates it, and absolutely every developer is terrified that they’ll come after them, so they all swear up and down that they definitely don’t use any AI. The reality? Of course that EVERYONE uses it! Every one! Absolutely every developer across many companies that I’ve spoken with over the past year uses AI. Programmers can’t get anything done without it anymore. Most developers are building their own AI tools for just about everything. It can generate high-quality character models, it helps animators, and it’s used by concept artists, 3D artists, screenwriters, and designers... Research, writing, ideas development, concepts... Even people who don’t know how to program use it to create tools that programmers never had time to code for them. And its used for AI! You know - the NPC AI :)
Fun fact: You know who uses it the most? Usualy the most talented people I know. They are the ones who are least afraid and who see its huge potential.
The idea that someone is making 100 million dollar project and will want to avoid a technology that will help him develop it much faster and cheaper is insane.
I spent 7 years working day and night on ONE game. If anything helped me to make it in one year I would take in anytime. No one wants to work on a game for a decade. Sure I would rather made 7 games instead of one in that time.
I’m curious to see what will happen when the truth comes out about all of that—and who will be the first to spill the beans :) I guess all the games and companies will be boycotted! Its going to be lot of fun!
Hey folks,
I'm currently spending the last day of my boys summer vacation with them, but I put in a bit of work on https://t.co/JolbgwKsO7 because I got flooded with requests.
A bunch of you asked for "SteamCharts and SteamDB stuff" on https://t.co/JolbgwKsO7, so that stuff is live now.
Every game page now has History tabs: concurrent players, VGC Score over time, price history, and review volume.
New /players board: What's being played right now, 24h peaks, and who's rising or falling week over week. This is all based on Steam data right now, but I have some ideas to expand this.
Studios board: I always wanted to know which studios produce the highest quality output with no stinkers. Still wrangling through the data and it's clearly WIP, but already really interesting to browse through!
Hall of Fame with Game of the Year Awards: Very interesting to see the GOTY wins because it's solely based on actual player data!
Release calendar for announced games in 'On the Radar', so you can quickly check which games will be out soon.
Deals board: I already bought 4 games based on suggestions this damn thing made, so be careful, it's addictive because it shows you which highest rated games are currently on sale.
The game pages now list completion times, screenshots and trailers.
Search that finishes your query, so it's easier to find stuff.
And it's a lot faster now. Some pages used to take 10 seconds to load, my bad.
Again, ultimately I'd want VGC to just be an incredibly helpful tool for gamers that ideally helps them find games they otherwise wouldn't have paid attention to 👍
And since the database is constantly growing, we can do some REALLY interesting queries soon.
ENJOY! ❤️

Hey folks,
I'm launching a website today: https://t.co/JolbgwKsO7
It started as a little database I built for myself. I use Metacritic and OpenCritic a lot and they're clearly useful, but to me as a designer the user experience always felt a bit lacking.
Then the thing kept growing, and at some point I realized it had become genuinely useful for any gamer, not just me. So here it is, for everyone.
My main problem with the existing aggregators: Their scores tell you how the press felt about a game, not how players did.
That made sense 20 years ago. I cared a lot what GameSpot gave a game back then. But today we can actually measure how players felt, and to me that will always matter more than how the press did. On https://t.co/JolbgwKsO7, players hold at least two-thirds of every score, by rule. Press still counts, it just can't outvote the people who bought the game.
The other big problem: Those sites rate a game once, at launch, and then never really touch it again.
But that's not how games work anymore. A game can launch rough and get patched shortly after, but on Metacritic and OpenCritic it carries that scarlet letter forever.
No Man's Sky is the obvious example: Famously rocky launch, and Hello Games has spent the years since relentlessly improving it. Its Metacritic score has never moved. On https://t.co/JolbgwKsO7 it launched at 50 and sits at 82 today, because scores here are LIVE: launch-era reviews fade out over time, and reviews written after a significant patch count the most. When player sentiment changes, the number changes. Simple.
And since press does still count, I ended up reviewing the reviewers too. Every outlet and creator gets a trust score based on one question: When they reviewed a game, did players end up agreeing? You can see who consistently calls games the way players see them, and who doesn't. Again, simple and fair.
And everything is transparent. Every game page shows exactly how its score was computed, and the full methodology is public. No editorial opinion, no magic number.
Anyway, I hope you get a kick out of it! Even just as a way to see the best games on each platform, find something you missed, or browse a site that isn't wallpapered in ads, I think it's already pretty useful.
Enjoy!👍❤️
@MarqToAim You’re missing the point of her tweet. Most people of every appearance level prefer attractive characters in games. That preference doesn’t suddenly become invalid because of how the critic looks.
