The 8 mins free drop time at @RGIAHyd Airport is impossible due to heavy traffic, luggage, elderly passengers and payment/network delays. ₹250–500 penalties are unfair for #Ola, #Uber and #Rapido drivers already struggling with high fuel prices and low earnings. (1/2)
David Harvey's 2026 book "The Story of Capital" mentions the word "caste" 50+ times--a change from his usual analytics. He emphasizes how caste and clan, as much as race and gender, are integral to capital accumulation--and "law + academia" as examples of the modern caste system.
For the next Publics@IIHS lecture, we will be joined by Indivar Jonnalagadda, Assistant Professor of International Studies, Miami University (@miamiuniversity) . He will speak on urban regularisation, land governance, and the politics of unplanned growth in Indian cities. Indivar will be in conversation with Neha Sami, Associate Dean - IIHS School of Environment & Sustainability (@iihsin).
The talk will examine how urban growth in Indian cities is shaped by regularisation over regulation, and how unstable land records, political interests, and real estate pressures influence how land is claimed, occupied, and developed. It will also reflect on how regularisation manages instability while undermining planning and reinforcing existing inequalities.
