Penny Couchie will take us through a World Indigenous Dance Workshop aimed at exploring and investigating the relationship between place, land and our own landscapes. We will engage in creating small dances inspired by big questions. Penny will also be leading the Symposium!
Raoul Pillay's House Dance Workshop will explore movement through music, stimulate students' imagination and help them get a better understanding of not only themselves, but their bodies as well. We break down steps to build a solid foundation and understanding of the dance style
Excited to have Nimkii Osawamick sharing a Hoop Dance Workshop that will engage people through the art of song and dance teaching them bravery and courage as we maneuver through the hoops creating and learning put the creation stories and how we are a part of this circle of life
We are excited for Troy Feldman's Street Flow workshop- it is a mixture of freestyle street dance (house dancing, breaking, social dances) with a strong contemporary aesthetic. This workshop also explores cinematic movement (creature and sci-fi) and movement inspired by nature!
Elke Schroeder is bringing us a Contemporary floorwork and movement training workshop where you will work and play with the Fighting Monkey Practice and techniques of low-flying dance. Through these modalities you will discover your habits – both physical and mental. Bio on site!
Let Jasmyn Fyffe take you through some phrase building contemporary! Through guided improvisational techniques, create tasks from movements to create from what has already been created. Getting the juices flowing and creating a basis for the creation of new material. Bio on site!
Join Emily Cheung for Wa indigenous dance workshop! This Chinese folk dance is located in the rainforest of South East Yunnan, China. A unique dance style using their hair to dance. The movements are grounded and big with wooden drum percussion. It is very energetic and powerful.
