@emojohnmarston Cause this artist is my friend, and I know for a fact that she’s not racist—that’s why I wanted to make that clear. But if you disagree, that’s fine. I don’t support whitewashing and fully condemn it, but in this case, I personally know the artist and what they intended to convey

@emojohnmarston If she were racist, she’d have made them fully white, not just a bit lighter. The difference is still noticeable despite the inaccuracies

@emojohnmarston Artists often make colored sketches slightly lighter than the final render (like in the examples). As for the racial features, this was the artist’s first time drawing dark-skinned characters, so the details weren’t perfect—but it’s lack of practice, not racism.
