The proposed 30 km Nashik Phata to Khed elevated corridor aimed at easing chronic congestion on one of Maharashtra's busiest industrial highways is facing a serious funding hurdle despite the National Highways Authority of India NHAI being close to completing the tendering process as delays in arranging funds for land acquisition of nearly 14.1 hectares threaten to stall the project before construction even begins. Bhosari MLA has written to the Chief Minister urging immediate release of land acquisition funds and has suggested that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation PCMC and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority PMRDA could temporarily advance funds from their annual budgets with the state government reimbursing the amount later. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways MoRTH secretary has also recently written to the Maharashtra chief secretary reminding the state of its commitment and seeking immediate intervention to prevent further delays while Shirur MP had earlier also sought state government intervention on the same issue.
The elevated corridor is expected to dramatically improve connectivity along the industrially significant Pimpri Chinchwad Chakan MIDC and Khed Rajgurunagar stretch where rapid urbanisation has created severe traffic conditions with commuters regularly spending two to three hours covering the 30 km distance. Bhosari MLA emphasised that the Pune Nashik highway is one of the state's most economically important roads and that the project cannot be allowed to stall for want of funds given the relief it will bring to lakhs of commuters, entrepreneurs and industries operating along the corridor. Officials warned that unless land acquisition is expedited without further delay the entire project risks being held back despite the tendering process being virtually complete, setting back what is widely regarded as one of the most critical infrastructure interventions needed for the Pune Metropolitan Region's industrial growth and urban mobility.

@roguebits24@Dev_Fadnavis@kdhavse Years ago Mumbai - Pune and Mumbai - Ahmedabad were the first two bullet train corridors that were planned to be built in India. At that time, Pune - Mumbai was deprioritised for the same reason (time and cost).
