China’s Two-Pronged Strategy to Constrain India’s Rise: Territorial Pressure and Economic Coercion

After quietly altering the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh, China is now seeking to alter facts on the ground in another sector of the Indo-Tibetan frontier, in Arunachal Pradesh. The leadership of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has confirmed that active face-offs with Chinese troops continue at multiple Himalayan locations along the Arunachal Pradesh frontier. The standoffs began in July when Chinese forces blocked Indian troops from returning to patrol the Taksing area, triggering additional face-offs elsewhere.

In recent months, China has also imposed India-specific export restrictions widely viewed as an effort to slow India’s emergence as an alternative global manufacturing hub. Leveraging its dominance of global supply chains, Beijing has restricted exports to India of manufacturing equipment, industrial components, battery technologies, lithium-ion-related inputs, and critical minerals.

Whenever I raise my voice about injustices in Ladakh the government media machinery gets activated to target me & our institute HIAL’s land lease.
Please take the message, don’t kill the messenger.
A quick look at this letter shows their own delays if not incompetence.
In all, 5 written appeals, 15 visits & 30 calls were made appealing for timely execution of land lease.

In September, @IndianExpress' investigation revealed that two Election Commissioners had written separately to the Cabinet Secretary seeking action against a senior officer inside the EC.

What happened to those letters is now on record.

File notings obtained under RTI by Commodore Lokesh Batra (retd) show the Cabinet Secretariat discussed the letters on August 3 & 4, then decided to do nothing beyond acknowledging them.

The reasoning? Sandhu and Joshi had written in their individual capacity, not as the Commission.

“In the absence of any official communication from the Commission as a whole, any action at this stage may be inappropriate. It may also be construed as interference in the functioning of the Constitutional Body.”

The Commission, as our investigation has shown, had not met as a full body for FOUR months.
