"Louisiana is the only state that has surpassed its pre-pandemic reading results on the Nation’s Report Card in 4th grade. It’s been a leader for more than a decade in putting well reviewed curriculum in schools."

My heart is broken. A 16-year-old high school student in Georgia texted her mom, "I know I've not been a perfect daughter. I love you. I'm sorry." Enough is enough.
Talent Together is one of the finalists!!! After my first ASU+GSV conference 2 years ago, I playfully suggested that we should come up with an innovation that would be worthy of the ASU+GSV stage. And here we are! @DaveRichardsPhD@TimmisChris@alenazachery@cvannatter_wisd

This is an IMPORTANT read -- with all the debates of having or not having standardized tests. The truth is they have value ONLY WHEN used well and for the right purpose and understanding; narrative matters to make sense of this data.
In 1992, 72% of 4th graders scored below proficient on the NAEP reading assessment. Today, those kids are 40-41 years old. They went on to earn 4-year college and advanced degrees at a rate surpassing all generations before them. My latest post: https://t.co/93KIUrxkVU
Yes to the call to focus more intensively on below basic proficiency. We ALL need to do more and invest more in those students who are the furthest behind. Reading proficiency isn't a measure of schools and instruction alone; but a vital indicator of how the child is thriving.
The decline in well-being has been especially pronounced in young adults ages 18 to 24. Between 2008 and 2023, young adults in each racial and ethnic group experienced 20 percentage point or larger reductions in well-being.
😳😳😳
High well-being scores are correlated with greater individual and community stability, high racial and ethnic diversity, and lower rates of “deaths of despair.” https://t.co/qK4bWvjEtE
