CCTV Arts Weibo Update [ENG SUB]
💬 Standing atop the Great Wall, Xiao Zhan reflected that only by standing there could he truly feel how small he was, while also feeling a deep sense of pride in the land beneath his feet.
He poured his understanding of family and country, along with his heartfelt words for young people, into “Me and My Motherland.”
May this warm yet steadfast strength accompany everyone on the road ahead.
🐰: I feel very excited and deeply moved.
I’m very honored to be able to celebrate this great occasion together with everyone.
Standing on the Great Wall and looking out at the magnificent mountains and rivers of our motherland,
I feel a deep and genuine sense of pride.
“Me and My Motherland” is also a song that everyone knows very well.
I’m not just singing it.
More than that, I’m expressing how I feel about this land through this song.
I hope that when everyone watches this performance, you can feel a gentle yet steadfast kind of strength.
Carry this strength with you, keep moving forward with determination on your own path, and keep looking forward to the future.

I have found a good article from Yangcheng Evening News about #XiaoZhan mainstream strong recognition!
Here a translation!
At 8:00 PM on October 1st, CCTV’s National Day special program has been broadcasted on different channels. Dressed in a Zhongshan suit, Xiao Zhan stand atop the Jinshanling Great Wall to perform a solo rendition of "Me and My Motherland" alongside the China Philharmonic Orchestra. This moment quickly went viral online, with related topics trending on social media.
Yet, a question is worth asking, beside the fact that he brings high attention and discussions online, why does CCTV repeatedly entrust him?
A look back at Xiao Zhan’s journey with CCTV reveals a clear trajectory. In 2020, he made his debut at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, performing in the skit “Like You, Like Me”; in 2021, the fantasy drama Douluo Continent, in which he starred, aired on CCTV-8; in 2023, his inspirational period drama #WhereDreamsBeging premiered during CCTV-8’s prime-time slot; and in 2024, he was honored as "Breakthrough Actor of the Year" at the CCTV Annual Drama Awards CMG Awards. Most recently, during this year’s National Day celebrations, he stood atop the Great Wall to perform the song “Me and My Motherland”
From acting and awards recognition to performing meaningful songs on National Day, each appearance showcases the diverse potential of this artist.
It’s worth noting that this is not Xiao Zhan’s first connection to the Great Wall; in 2019, he performed the song “My Chinese Heart” at the Mutianyu section. From Mutianyu to Jinshanling, and from “My Chinese Heart” to “Me and My Motherland”, the combination of the Great Wall and patriotic songs has created a resonant, ceremonial connection in his career.
But CCTV has always been rigorous in its selection of talent, so why Xiao Zhan?
The alignment between his image and the stage is the primary factor. From performing in the Spring Festival Gala sketches to singing at National Day celebrations, the wholesome, upright quality Xiao Zhan embodies resonates perfectly with the steady, dignified nature of mainstream stages. He possesses a sunny, positive image and commands a massive fan base. For CCTV, such an artist not only guarantees broad reach but also aligns with the expression of mainstream values. A solid body of work is the ultimate currency. Xiao Zhan’s repeated appearances on CCTV stages are not driven by the number of times he trends online, but by the quality of his performances. From the passionate and sincere Xiao Chunsheng in Where Dreams Begin to the shrewd and calculating Zang Hai in #LegendOfZangHai, and the chivalrous Guo Jing in the movie #LegendsOfTheCondorHeroes, he has successfully transitioned from a "traffic-driven idol" to a "serious actor" through the strength of his work.
Media outlets have praised him for "remaining undeterred by the clamor of public opinion and unswayed by the allure of online fame, instead delivering results step-by-step through solid character portrayals."
His style of "quietly achieving great things" is another asset. The recent filming at the Great Wall took place without any advance hype or official schedule announcements; news of the event only surfaced thanks to chance encounters with passersby. In an industry ecosystem where "traffic stars" often prioritize trending topics above all else, this grounded, work-focused attitude is a rare and valuable quality.
For a young artist, consistently receiving invitations from mainstream platforms is far more than just buzz. Every decision to feature an artist on CCTV stage represents a value judgment which prioritizes not merely fame, but whether the artist's public image and body of work can meet the standards required for a stage of such national significance. In this sense, Xiao Zhan’s journey with CCTV offers a compelling case study: while massive online popularity may open the door, it’s only through one's body of work and personal character that the door remains open.

Xiao Zhan — “Out of Place” 《不合时宜》 [ENG SUB]
EP “Flights of Fancy” 《异想天开》 | Track 2
Track introduction:
“Out of Place”
There is no shortage of people checking in on you in life, and there are people willing to embrace you, yet some emotions still cannot find the right way out. You stop halfway through what you were saying and take the words back. The smile has already been given, yet the weariness inside remains right where it was. And behind what may seem like silence, there is often expectation too... We are often expected to be mature and dependable, to hold ourselves together when things happen. Over time, we even begin to hesitate to express our exhaustion. Saying “I’m fine” comes more and more naturally, while the things we truly want to say become fewer and fewer.
If that is the case, then let yourself dream a dream that moves out of step with the rhythm of the world, standing alone amid the rushing tide of noise and calmly accepting your true self. With the rhythms and open spaces of Neo Soul, “Out of Place” draws the listener into a damp, enclosed night of blurred neon lights. The music keeps moving forward, while the emotions are allowed to linger for a little while, like someone who, late at night, finally has the time to hear clearly what is in their own heart.
“I’m just a dream that came at the wrong time.” But being “out of place” does not mean simply standing in opposition to the world around you. It is simply your own rhythm and your own way of experiencing the world. In this moment, you can allow yourself to lay down the need to be strong.

Xiao Zhan — “Flights of Fancy” 《异想天开》 [ENG SUB]
EP “Flights of Fancy” 《异想天开》 | Track 1
Track introduction:
“Flights of Fancy”
In a reality that flows without order, most people move forward to a predetermined rhythm. Yet deep down, those flights of fancy are something uniquely our own — a burst held in check by restraint.
Set against a backdrop of Chill R&B / Urban Pop, “Flights of Fancy” carries a laid-back urban groove. Moving to an unscripted rhythm, it sways at a frequency all its own, completely unbinding senses that have been repeatedly recalibrated by schedules and streams of information.
Warm, vintage electric piano lays the foundation, accented by playful synth tones, while looping vocal samples and ethereal reverb sketch out a quiet, slightly cool private space for solitude. The groove surges beneath the surface, the drums like a train passing in the middle of the night. The vocals retain their breathiness and close-up intimacy, crumpled and smoothed out again by the beat. Light filtering through the walls and a coffee cup frozen in place leave the entire song suspended somewhere between wakefulness and sleepwalking, like a nighttime wandering you never want to wake from.
异想 (“fantastical thoughts”) is allowing thoughts to grow into shapes that defy convention; 天开 (“the sky opening”) is the crack that appears in the night sky when imagination reaches its breaking point.
Rationally, you know full well that when the song ends, people part ways, and what’s done cannot be undone. Yet emotionally, late at night, you still remain confused while pretending to understand. Reason is the restrained rhythm, while emotion is the drifting harmony. Light on the surface, the song still carries a trace of bittersweet ache within.

XIAO ZHAN TEN YEARS EMPIRE

Why Xiao Zhan’s Success Was Never Just Luck | Seven Years at the Top
There is an unspoken iron rule in the Chinese entertainment industry:
Explosive fame, frenzy, controversy, fading away.
A three-year cycle that almost no one can escape.
But Xiao Zhan has broken this ironclad cycle.
Since becoming hugely popular in 2019, his popularity has not waned for seven years, his reputation has remained strong, he has continued to put out new work, and his commercial value has consistently remained in the top tier.
Many people say he is a chosen one, favored by luck; others say these are the blessings he has earned by treating people sincerely.
In today’s video, we won’t talk about mysticism or take a fandom stance.
We’ll focus only on the underlying logic: Xiao Zhan’s ability to remain popular for seven years has never been about luck, but on the highly sophisticated personal brand structure he has built for himself.
Pay attention to the word “structure.”
This is not cold commercial packaging, but high-level self-planning of one’s direction in life, career path, and risk boundaries.
So why do 90% of top stars fall victim to the three-year curse?
Fundamentally, it comes down to four structural flaws:
First, they have a bubble of popularity but no strong body of work to support it.
Second, they have a perfect persona but no authentic core.
Third, they only know how to burn through their popularity, but not how to build the ability to withstand risk.
Fourth, they treat fans as tools rather than people walking alongside them.
Most top stars are like duckweed, drifting wherever the market pushes them.
They rise fast and fall even faster.
But Xiao Zhan has made himself into a tree with roots planted deep in the soil.
The first layer is alignment between role and self, from mirror resonance to personality integration.
Wei Wuxian’s sense of brokenness and stubbornness were part of what characterized his early years.
His later roles in serious dramas have increasingly leaned toward realism and fully fleshed-out characters.
This is what I called “mirror value” during my livestream.
He has never deliberately tried to portray a “perfect idol.”
Instead, through his roles, he continually brings out genuine human nature.
What audiences see in him is not just the character, but also an ordinary person refusing to give in in the face of adversity.
This kind of aligned structure, where “the role serves life, and life supports the role,” means that every one of his works helps strengthen and build up his personal brand.
The second layer is a risk-defense structure in adversity: silence is golden, and work is the shield.
The harshest truth about the Chinese entertainment industry is this: the higher you rise, the harder you fall.
So many people, the moment trouble hits, panic and start acting rashly, defending themselves, creating hype, and burning through the goodwill of the general public.
But at his darkest moment, Xiao Zhan chose the hardest path: silence, taking time to reflect, and letting his work speak for him.
This is exceptionally sophisticated strategic planning.
He understands the dynamics of public opinion all too well: emotions fade, and only the work is hard currency.
He put all his energy back into building the structure of his body of work.
When someone is at their lowest point and still does not complain, does not give up, and does not compromise, they build up trust capital.
When others run into trouble, they collapse.
When he runs into trouble, he instead strengthens his foundation.
This is the highest-level structure for withstanding risk.
The third layer is a mutually supportive relationship with fans: not control, but guidance through values.
For many popular stars, their fandom model is built on opposition and extracting value from fans, ultimately narrowing their own path.
But between Xiao Zhan and his fans, an extremely healthy ecosystem has formed.
He doesn’t use a carefully crafted persona to keep fans tied to him, but repeatedly emphasizes, “Live your own life well.”
This kind of structure is the most stable, lasts the longest, and is the least likely to collapse.
Because it is sustained not by passion, but by shared values.
Fans are no longer following an unreachable symbol, but a role model who embodies:
“You keep shining, and I keep living my life.”
An artist who can guide fans to become more self-disciplined and more positive is favored by platforms and brands, and more readily accepted by the general public.
This is what a truly healthy ecosystem looks like.
Why can’t the three-year curse hold him back?
Because the three-year curse traps traffic and buzz.
But he stepped outside the rules of the popularity game long ago.
He establishes himself through his work, builds his inner foundation through his character, and secures his path through structure.
In the short term, you rely on buzz.
In the medium term, you rely on your work.
In the long term, you rely on structure.
Those who rely on luck will eventually lose what luck gave them.
Those who rely on a persona will eventually collapse when that persona does.
Only those who build the structure of their own lives for themselves can weather the cycle and still be standing when the tide recedes.
There is no such thing as lasting popularity without a reason.
Every seemingly lucky case of staying power comes from sustained effort that no one sees.
When the tide of popularity recedes and all the noise fades away, the ones who remain standing on the shore will always be those who, through sincerity, steadiness, and professionalism, have built structure into who they are.

Xiao Zhan stands on the Jinshanling Great Wall in a Zhongshan suit, but the trending keyword isn’t “handsome.”
Xiao Zhan: As actors and celebrities, we can’t think too much of ourselves just because we’re in a profession where people admire and follow us. We still need to stay grounded and do our best in every single project, and take our work seriously.
A lot of people think, “Isn’t he just filming a special National Day program for CCTV?”
Wrong.
A Zhongshan suit + the Great Wall + leaked footage of “My Motherland and Me.”
Put those three together, and you’ve got the national seal of approval when it comes to aesthetics.
On September 20, he was at the Jinshanling Great Wall in Chengde, Hebei, filming CCTV’s special National Day program.
A burgundy Zhongshan suit with a sharp, upright collar.
Even people who happened to see him from just 0.5 meters away were saying he had the full official state-event look.
This wasn’t a private trip or a commercial performance.
CCTV entrusted a young actor with telling a story of country and home for National Day.
From singing “My Chinese Heart” on the Great Wall in 2019, to the Winter Olympics theme song in 2021, to singing “As Wished” in 2024, and then filming for National Day on the Great Wall in 2026, CCTV didn’t suddenly choose him.
They’ve been working with him year after year.
Why him? The answer isn’t in one day. It’s in seven years.
Let’s look at some numbers first.
In the 2025 TopBrand China Top 500 Brand Figures,
Xiao Zhan ranked No. 27 overall and No. 1 in the Arts category.
Do you know how impressive that is?
Just look at three of the people ranked ahead of him: Ren Zhengfei, Liu Qiangdong, and Dong Mingzhu.
(T/N: Ren Zhengfei — founder of Huawei; Liu Qiangdong — founder of JD. com; Dong Mingzhu — Chairwoman of Gree Electric.)
This is the main ranking, not the separate Youth Ranking.
Most of the people on the main ranking are entrepreneurs from all kinds of industries.
To rank this high among so many prominent figures says a lot about the influence and commercial value of his personal brand.
For an actor to make it into the top 30 of China’s Brand Figures shows that calling him a “top star” simply doesn’t cover it anymore.
Some people ask, with so many people in the Chinese entertainment industry, why would CCTV trust Xiao Zhan with the outdoor shoot for its special National Day program?
Because his track record can stand up to scrutiny.
From Wei Wuxian to Xiao Chunsheng and Gu Yiye, then Zang Hai, Guo Jing, and Mo Dexian, with each new project, he turned popularity into quality.
Xiao Zhan: I just refuse to admit defeat. I’m really stubborn.
If other people can do something well, then I can do it well too.
If it’s something I genuinely want to do, from the bottom of my heart, then I’m definitely going to do it.
The Untamed earned him the Huading Award for Best New Actor.
The Youth Memories brought him Breakthrough Actor of the Year and Drama Star with the Most All-Media Attention at the TV Drama Quality Ceremony.
The Legend of Zang Hai became CCTV’s highest-rated costume drama of the past five years, while also earning him a Best Actor nomination at the Magnolia Awards and a Best Actor nomination at the Macau Golden Lotus Awards.
Gezhi Town also brought him Most Popular Actor of the Year Among University Students at the Beijing College Student Film Festival, and Best Actor at the Golden Seagull Awards.
Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants became the highest-grossing wuxia film in Chinese film history.
From Quality Actor of the Year and Role Model Filmmaker of the Year
to having his name appear at major mainstream ceremonies year after year, these aren’t awards he won because of his fans.
He earned them through his performances, one scene at a time.
CCTV has praised him many times, and mainstream media have repeatedly recognized him.
His positive, respectable image isn’t a persona. It’s a reputation built through his work.
Xiao Zhan: I think an actor’s longevity comes from their work.
By making good work.
I don’t want to be a flash in the pan.
What matters more to me is having value, the kind of value that makes you irreplaceable.
At the end of the day, what we’ve loved watching was never just how handsome he is.
It’s seeing someone who, after going through his lowest point, can still stand tall and smile with such openness, and still be willing to stop for a tree.
A Zhongshan suit may go out of style, but the spirit and presence of someone who can command the occasion never will.

Why do AI male leads always end up looking like Xiao Zhan?
Because when you combine ideal facial proportions, strong 3D bone structure, a defined jawline, perfect profile, facial harmony and that rare balance between sharpness and softness… apparently, you just end up creating Xiao Zhan. 😭🔥
AI tried to design the ideal male face and accidentally recreated him. 😌

Xiao Zhan | When the Fashion World Chooses You
If you still picture celebrities in the fashion world as the ones begging magazines to lend them clothes and brands to give them titles, Xiao Zhan might completely change that perception.
This guy plays by a completely different set of rules in the fashion world.
He doesn’t have to chase opportunities.
Opportunities chase him.
They’re even willing to change schedules and bend the rules for him.
At the beginning of 2026, Xiao Zhan landed ELLE’s top-tier OG solo cover for ELLE’s opening issue of the year, once again breaking a record in Chinese entertainment print media.
This top-tier OG format hadn’t been used for three years, but ELLE brought it back specifically for Xiao Zhan.
He also became only the third Chinese male star in ELLE’s 37-year history to land an OG cover.
That alone shows just how exclusive his standing is.
A lot of people just see a prestigious magazine cover, without realizing how much weight an OG solo cover carries in the industry.
It’s the highest-level solo cover format a top fashion magazine offers to male stars.
It’s reserved for stars who are strong across the board, with influence, broad public appeal, and solid commercial value.
It’s also the clearest print-media validation of his status in fashion.
Magazine sales are the real test of a star’s popularity.
As soon as preorders for this opening issue went live, the massive surge in traffic caused the platform’s servers to lag.
Fans in China and overseas responded in force, helping the issue reach a huge audience across different communities and countries.
Its overall sales comfortably topped those of comparable magazine issues in Chinese entertainment.
There’s a reason top fashion magazines are willing to make exceptions for Xiao Zhan: it’s widely recognized within the industry that his popularity extends far beyond his fandom.
He has strong commercial power and widespread public recognition.
After years of steadily building his presence, Xiao Zhan has now completed the full set of top-tier covers from leading fashion magazines, with two opening issues and one major September issue, making him the first Chinese male star to achieve this magazine cover grand slam.
Every time Xiao Zhan lands a cover, he sets a new benchmark for fashion print media in Chinese entertainment and redefines the highest standard for a Chinese male star on a regular magazine issue.
At Milan Fashion Week 2026, Xiao Zhan attended as Global Brand Ambassador for both Gucci and Tod’s, receiving exceptional treatment from both luxury houses, something rarely seen among Chinese celebrities.
Both luxury brands even adjusted the timing of their shows to fit Xiao Zhan’s schedule.
Gucci even mobilized its global social media network for a coordinated promotional push, further boosting Xiao Zhan’s visibility across the global fashion world.
His trip to Milan was more than just a fashion appearance.
It also showed the international fashion world a new level of fashion influence and broad public appeal that a Chinese celebrity can have.
His two looks from this Fashion Week went viral across the internet and were hailed as iconic because of their striking contrast and how perfectly he pulled off both styles.
At the Tod’s show, his warm ginger-yellow suede look was soft and effortlessly relaxed, perfectly blending the laid-back feel of understated Italian luxury with a gentle, reserved Eastern elegance.
At the Gucci show, his black trench coat with a subtle pattern was cool and refined, with a commanding presence, giving off an aloof, sophisticated sense of after-dark luxury.
Winning the favor of the fashion industry’s top circles has never been just about good looks. It also comes down to camera presence and the little details that reveal someone’s character.
Xiao Zhan is widely recognized in the industry for his exceptional camera presence.
He’s naturally made for fashion imagery.
With his striking bone structure and facial features, he looks good from every angle.
Even unforgiving angles from foreign media and extreme HD close-ups don’t faze him.
His relaxed yet polished presence gives every still and candid shot a polished, cinematic quality.
Beyond his exceptional camera presence, what’s even more touching is the genuine gentleness at his core.
As he was leaving the Milan show, Xiao Zhan made a point of walking around to the other side of the car and stopped to greet the fans waiting there.
As a global ambassador for two major luxury houses,
with some of the biggest opportunities in Chinese entertainment,
he remains low-key and gentle.
In the glamorous, status-driven world of fashion,
that combination of exceptional performance in front of the camera
and a sincere, easygoing personality is especially rare.
Looks and charisma determine how far you can go.
Commercial power determines your standing in the industry.
But having real influence is the ultimate sign of recognition in the fashion world.
2026 marks the fifth anniversary of Xiao Zhan’s partnership with Tod’s.
Together, they launched the Tod’s · X capsule collection, which reflects Xiao Zhan’s personal aesthetic, approach to life, and sense of style, with designs spanning bags, footwear, and ready-to-wear,
expressing the relaxed, effortless aesthetic of modern urban life.
Looking at his overall endorsement portfolio, you can clearly see his distinctive combination of “top international luxury + premium Chinese brands.”
Gucci and Tod’s, two top-tier luxury houses, firmly establish his presence in international high-end fashion.
As Li-Ning’s Global Brand Ambassador, he represents the brand’s premium product lines, firmly establishing his presence in China’s premium sportswear market.
At the same time, he also became an ambassador for premium auto brand Shangjie under Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility,
expanding his reach into technology and mobility.
Top-tier partnerships spanning fashion, sports, and technology show just how uniquely versatile his image is.
In an era driven by online popularity, fleeting hype is everywhere.
What’s truly rare is a strong reputation and real substance that stand the test of time.
At a time when countless top stars rise and fall in rapid succession and popularity can disappear in an instant,
Xiao Zhan has steadily built his presence in the fashion world,
turning short-term popularity
into lasting value recognized by the industry, by brands, and by the wider public.

could those in power LOWER THEIR GAZE, if only for a moment simply to see?
‼️ your egos are sustained not by wisdom, but by the vast landscape of suffering endured by countless lives across this nusantara — the people carry the scars, the earth bears the burden of your avarice, and the animals are left to pay the price for an insatiable appetite for power and profit.
while you remain preoccupied with determining who among you is most deserving of praise from the lofty seat of authority.
this nation does not suffer from a lack of voices. it suffers from having for far too long those in power who possess every means to hear — yet repeatedly choose not to listen 🥀

With less than a month to go until the 48th WorldSkills Competition kicks off in Shanghai, the official promotional song "Here We Shine" has just dropped globally on August 24, performed by ambassador Xiao Zhan 肖战.
An old comment from a Chongqing Technology and Business University alumnus about Xiao Zhan. He is now a teacher and was Xiao Zhan’s junior at university. In his eyes, Xiao Zhan has always been the same kind person, and that hasn’t changed even after becoming one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry.
👤: There’s one person I always tell my students, “Please try not to say anything negative about him in my class.”
He’s an artist, a celebrity. It’s Xiao Zhan.
It’s because he and I are alumni of Chongqing Technology and Business University. And it’s more than just being alumni, because I actually had some interactions with him in real life. When I was studying there, he was there too.
So, actually, from my perspective, I feel like other people are media products, but he isn’t. He really is very warm, very nice, and very kind.
When he was at university, and I’m not exaggerating, back when we were at the Lanhua Lake campus, when he went to eat at lunchtime, people really would go and see him. We had something called “CTBU Secrets.” Popular people at our university would get posted about on its wall. Back then, people would post about him on CTBU Secrets, saying, “Ah, Xiao Zhan is eating in the cafeteria. Go see him.” His face was still a little chubby back then, with a bit of baby fat. He had this very cute, sunny look.
He was a senior at our university, and he was also really impressive. He was one of Chongqing’s Top Ten Campus Singers in the “Campus Spring” Top Ten Singers Competition, and was among the top finishers to receive Chongqing’s First Prize. He didn’t come from a singing background.
Secondly, back then, whenever teachers or students at the university needed his help, whether it was recording audio or helping put together these materials, he was always there to help whenever needed.
By his fourth year, he was basically one of the most popular people at the university. If someone asked him to record something or whatever, he was genuinely very polite. When he came in, he really was polite to every single person.
That’s why, having been at the same university as him at the same time, when I saw him become famous, I just felt that he really deserved it.
There was a TV drama called Super Star Academy, and they came back to our university to promote it. At the time, I was in my fourth year and preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam. My teacher asked me to host the event, but I refused. I said, “Are you crazy? I’m preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam.”
Of course, they left a lot of signed photos at the university. My teacher asked me at the time, “Do you want one?” I said, “Am I crazy? Why would I want his signed photo?” Because to me, he was just an upperclassman from my university. I never expected him to become this famous later. Now I regret it so much.
And then later, that was when he became hugely famous. When he participated in X-Fire, we all worked together to get people to vote for him and to vote for him ourselves. Watching him make his way step by step, we were all genuinely happy for him.
When I was a postgraduate student, I was the student deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee at CTBU. At the time, I was involved in establishing the fifth student organization under the CTBU Youth League Committee, called the New Media Studio.
At the time, student organizations like the art troupe were recruiting new members, so I spoke to my teacher. He was the teacher I was closest to, really, really close to. You can search for someone called “Shizhe Chen Chen” on Weibo, and you’ll see that the comments under his posts are all from Xiao Zhan’s fans. That’s because he helped Xiao Zhan in his early years and was one of the people who was there for him the most as he grew and developed. He was even a teacher who helped Xiao Zhan make his debut. That’s the kind of teacher, the kind of person he was.
And we got along really, really well.
So at the time, I called Chen-ge and said, “Can you contact Xiao Zhan for me and ask him to record a promotional video? Just something welcoming students to join the art troupe.”
And think about it: Xiao Zhan was already an insanely popular top star after The Untamed. Chen-ge sent him a message at 10 p.m. that night, and Xiao Zhan replied at 5 a.m., saying, “Okay, I’ll record it in a bit and send it to you.”
That’s really how it was. It was very quick. And my teacher was like, “Wow, up and working again at five in the morning.”
Xiao Zhan told Teacher Chen, “Chen-ge, it’s not that I got up this early to work. I’ve only just finished filming a night scene.”
As a fellow alumnus, I have a lot of respect for him. I’ve actually interacted with him, gotten to know him, and known him personally. Although in his life I may have been nothing more than an ordinary junior from his university, but to me, among the tens of thousands of seniors from our university, he is the one who shines the brightest.
