Columbus Day started as an apology after a New Orleans mob lynched 11 Italian immigrants.
When a jury acquitted suspects in the 1890 murder of police chief David Hennessy, thousands dragged them from jail the next morning, shot 9, and hanged 2.
After the press cheered and Italy broke relations, Harrison condemned the killings, paid the families, then the next year made the 400th anniversary a national holiday to calm Italy.
In 2020, activists dumped statues in the harbor and removed others overnight, calling it a reckoning, after the holiday itself began as repair for those 11 dead men.
Why does the left hate Italian immigrants?
PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon says that labour shortages are good for domestic wages, and that mass immigration is dragging down Canadian fertility rates:
Montreal anglos and jews who only see Quebec culture as a folklore just fundamentally cannot understand why we want to live in French, since they won't notice when Montreal is inhospitable to anyone but them.
"What is unfolding in Canada is not politics. It is not reform. It is a hostile takeover by global forces using one of the most sophisticated & destructive plans ever devised to collapse a free society from within.
The plan is... Cloward Piven Strategy.
The man... Mark Carney."
Our generation was supposed to be post-racial
We were all taught from an early age that non of it mattered and to treat everyone the same
We then grew up and extended our hand out to the world
Only to get backstabbed and told we’re the problem
We were willing to move past this division
But those who asked us to, clearly never were
The Liberal Party of Canada wants to send us to re-education camps to de-radicalize us.
And @erinotoole wonders why we post anonymously.
Canada is a soft totalitarian state and there is little question about that at this point.
Quebec’s new premier actually said this a lil while back
- labour shortage is GOOD as it drives wages up
- mass migration is bad cause it suppresses wages
- mass migration drags fertility down in the province
Wow… this might finally become mainstream
This is the same energy we see in Brazil, Argentina, Alberta, along with the rest of the Western Hemisphere. National Economic sovereignty. Once USAID was redirected by Marco Rubio, globalism has taken a massive step back. The Zeitgeist has changed.
Quebec Premier-designate Paul St-Pierre Plamondon gets it: “The Century Initiative is wrong.”
Immigration has not improved the quality of life of Canadian people.
GDP per capita growth matters. Total GDP growth alone doesn't.
Dear English Canada,
The PQ didn't win because Québécois hate you.
It won because we're tired of Ottawa deciding on our immigration, our housing and our language without us.
We simply want to run our own house. Not against you. For us.
Vive le Québec libre!
The US government will love to work with Alberta and Quebec, they are the resistance to British commonwealth sphere of influence. Argentina and the Falkland Islands is another British asset the western alliance wants to peal off.
The difference isn’t between those programmes. It’s what happened afterwards.
English Canada largely gave up on maintaining a distinct culture of its own. “Post-national” is a convenient label for that. Canadian identity increasingly comes down to not being American, while consuming overwhelmingly American culture.
In Quebec, our television, our authors, our films and our music still occupy a central place in everyday life. We’re holding on to something living, not simply remembering old folk programmes.
And for years, that determination earned us labels like “racist” and “bigoted.” If more people are now beginning to appreciate what we’ve preserved, better late than never.
Yes, Anglo Canadian culture is based on not being American. The British set this standard as a hedge against the USA. Quebec, New France, exists on its own terms.
