Today I am endorsing @MattMaasdam to be the next Congressman from mid-Michigan and represent Michigan's seventh congressional district. Mid-Michigan is where it all began for me, representing this district – from Charlotte, to Lansing, to Owosso, to Brighton, to South Lyon – in the U.S. House for six years.

Matt has spent his life serving our country as a Navy SEAL and in the White House for President Obama. When he retired from the military, he chose to move back to Michigan to raise his family.

President Obama was the kind of President you want to see in the White House: smart, steady, honorable, and he led with kindness. He’s a good husband, dad, and role model for our country.

One thing that always stood out to me was his magical combination of being both ultra-competitive and really easygoing. It allowed him to surf the waves of politics, and it taught me a lot about leadership. (He also loved playing with my oldest son when he was just a baby!)

It was a tremendous honor to have his trust to carry the nuclear codes and to be by his side to handle emergencies for the country.

It’s incredible to see his legacy celebrated - I can’t wait to visit the new library!

Holding public office is about service, not enriching yourself. That’s why I support banning stock trading by senior government officials.

Donald Trump made $750 million in stock trades in just three months this year, including shares in Albemarle, the world’s largest lithium company.

And if you’re going to call it out on the right, you have to call it out on the left, too.

Albemarle is the same company my opponent Bridget Brink was criticized for owning stock in while serving as ambassador, working on issues tied to a potential U.S.-Ukraine minerals deal.

We should be able to identify potential conflicts of interest no matter who’s involved or what party they’re in. Ban stock trading by our leaders - they should pick service over self.

Tom Barrett’s allies are attacking me on Fox News today, months before the Democratic primary - and now Donald Trump's campaign is attacking me directly.

They’re scared, so they’re distorting my record - they know I’m the strongest candidate to beat Barrett in November.

I'm proud to have served our country for 20 years as a Navy SEAL. I'm proud that I helped build a company that makes everything in America. And I'm proud to have earned the trust of Michigan's labor unions, because I'll always fight for working people and American jobs.

Tom Barrett voted for Trump's reckless tariffs that have already killed nearly 100,000 American manufacturing jobs and made your life more expensive. Michigan families are feeling the pain of the Barrett-Trump economy, and they’re ready for a change.

When Trump ambushed and humiliated Zelenskyy in that disastrous Oval Office meeting last year, his Ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, cheered him on.

She thanked him for 'standing up for America' like 'no President ever before.' All because it was best for her career.

Now, she’s rewriting history and using that moment to raise money for her campaign in #MI07.
