@wordcolour yeah the ram and the cpu are on the same chip on the apple silicon macs so accessing memory is dramatically more efficient: that 16 goes a lot further than 16gb on an intel machine. it's nice to never have to deal with blaring fan noise/a super hot laptop as well

@wordcolour obviously this doesn't resemble a real project in any way, and there's a lot being left on the table (eg. automation), but there's a lot of headroom in these things

@wordcolour for reference, I get equivalent performance to my pre-apple-silicon desktop which has 96gb ram in it (back when you could put your own in), though I've not scientifically tested this by trying to throttle them both

@wordcolour I have an M2 pro in my laptop with the base RAM and it can handle all of those things no problemo. RAM is more a concern if you're doing bonkers stuff to samples being referenced from RAM or loading mega kontakt sample libraries into memory
