@cit_uprising For reference, I live in America and don't really pay attention to news, so it's entirely possible my ignorance is getting in the way here. I'd like to believe there's some context I'm missing, but on the face of it, this doesn't look good to me.
@cit_uprising I'm sorry, I'm not super politically aware, but this sounds kinda antisemitic. Am I misunderstanding something, or are you suggesting that Jewish people are the bad guys?
Amusingly, and perhaps unsurprisingly, Macnee posits that Steed and Peel banged on the regular, while Rigg suggests they only flirted but never consummated. The writer says he wrote them as if they'd had an affair before the show started.
While both the WWW and Avengers movies were absolute trash, I will admit that I kinda dig Bad Twin by Baby Bird, which is desperately trying to be a Bond theme and not quite pulling it off.
According to wikipedia, much of Steed's character was based on Macnee himself- including the trademark bowler and umbrella, which he brought from home because the budget was too tight for costuming.
The Avengers, Wild Wild West, and the Prisoner were all part of the same block of reruns when I was a kid, and all formative for me. I'm also 99% sure that John Steed was the inspiration for the Kingsman franchise (which was a comic before it was a movie), but I can't prove it.
@cinemasupercast In high school, I convinced my graphic arts teacher to buy a Video Toaster (bleeding edge tech at the time) on the school's dime. Probably the best thing that came out of it was my first exposure to Ken Nordine (who did all the promotional material for NewTek).
