There are literally thousands of players who you do not need to 'force' to play classic OSR D&D, they're more than happy to do it.
If your friends have to be 'forced' to do it, your friends are shit gamers. Actual gamers love to try out and embrace new things.
I for one cannot wait to see the Galadriel-Celeborn-Sauron love triangle. It's going to be so exciting. Will she go with Team Jacob or Team Edward?
We could power a small city with the force created by how many times Tolkien is turning in his grave.
Karen Gillan, who is a Highlander, says Henry Cavill's Scottish accent in the Highlander reboot is absolutely "bang on"
She also says he was so dedicated to authenticity, he was even correcting people who were mispronouncing Gaelic words

Here in the UK, it's clear that safe, sane and consensual sex between adults is now an act of open rebellion against the nanny state, so - if anyone out there would like me to choke-fuck you until you call me 'mommy' throw me a comment in reply :)
None of these is harmless, doctors and IPV experts have warned that strangulation can never be done "safely" without serious long-term health risks, while the eroticization of pedophilia and familial sexual abuse has consequences on real-life rape culture
Critical Roll.
Bing Bang Theory is, mostly, for normies to go, "look at them nerds!" in the same way Will and Grace was there for normies to say, "lmao look at them gays!" The cultural shit is thrown in haphazardly for color.
Critical Roll is a bunch of actors playing what was previously the loser introvert game for nerd boys who got bullied in school for being loser introvert nerd boys. They hammed it up and made it more free flowing with an emphasis on larp over crunch and it led to normies getting into it during Covid. Those few who remained after the culture shock that D&D tends to involve quite a bit of theory crafting and build making ultimately pushed for that same Critical Roll experience and the trimming down of the grit in world building.
It isn't exactly shocking that the Critical Role TTRPG will match this "low crunch" and "low rolling" aesthetic, which isn't exactly a problem unto itself, but rather a sign that the Covid tourists should have considered a look at the thousand and one pre-existing TTRPG's that would have fit their desire. You know, before pushing to not have to roll to save so their "Be gay do crimes" tiefling didn't die due to their shenanigans.
@HighlanderLore Oh damn, that's wild! I'll have to get OBS sorted then to make sure I can get a copy of it (I'm sure you understand my desire to keep backups after your recent misfortune; let me know if you need any files to fill the ones you lost)
TIL There are die-hard younger fans who are CONVINCED the Star Wars Prequels (Episodes IโIII) were brilliant, and all us "boomers" (they mean Millennials, mostly) didn't grok the visionโ
I saw Ep1 twice. It was AWFUL. It takes more than flashy sword fights to make a good movie.
Americans are literally incapable of eating food unless its deep fried 3 times, slathered in processed cheese, pumped with plastics and preservatives and crammed into a burger.
This is legit hilarious because he can literally not even run like this because he's so close to dying from old age. Like, not a tiger wouldn't even kill him because predator animals can tell when their prey is sick and will infect them with disease.

You can really tell that The Last Airbender was made before Tumblr while Korra was released when the site was at its height because the Avatar fandom will whole-ass say shit like "Korra is worse than Hitler and destroyed everything" even to today and not think its at all crazy.
โAvatarโ creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko say much of the hate toward Korra stems from misogyny and homophobia, pointing out that fans blame her for losing the past lives but donโt hold Aang accountable for the Air Nomadsโ extinction:
โThey hold Korra to a different standard. I think there's a lot of misogyny and homophobia. The idea we hate Korra is not true."
@skavenslave Antagonism and villainy are literally different things. To use the original series (specifically the first season, for context) to explain it, Fire Lord Ozai was a villain, Zuko was an antagonist.
