I would always remember 2008 as Ajantha Mendis' year. What a bowler he turned out to be. 48 wickets at an avg of 10.13 at an economy of 3.6 in ODIs, which included 6/13 against India at the Asia Cup finals.
In the very same year, India played 3 tests against Sri Lanka, Mendis claimed 26 wickets in those 3 games at an avg of 18. Troubled Laxman a lot throughout his career.

मैं जिन चंद लोगों को बहुत क़रीब से फ़ॉलो करता हूं, उनमें एक नाम प्रशांत किशोर का भी है। जबस��� वे बिहार की राजनीति के मैदान में सीधे उतरे, तबसे मेरी नज़र उन पर बनी हुई है। मैंने देखा कि किस तरह उन्होंने लगभग 4,000 किलोमीटर की पदयात्रा की… और यह पदयात्रा भी वैसी नहीं थी जैसी आजकल कई लोग करते हैं जहां आधा रास्ता कार में बैठकर तय कर लिया जात��� है।प्रशांत सचमुच पैदल चले। दिन-रात बिहार के लगभग हर गांव तक पहुंचे। हज़ारों कार्यक्रम किए। प्रशांत ने ज़मीन पर, सड़कों पर, गांव-गांव में पसीना बहाया। पूरी जी-जान से मेहनत की। इसके बावजूद वोटों के हिसाब से उन्हें भारी हार मिली। उनके अपने शब्दों में, “या तो मैं अर्श पर रहूंगा या फर्श पर।” इस बार वे फर्श पर आए हैं, लेकिन यह भी सच है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति इतनी लंबी, कठोर और भावनात्मक यात्रा के बाद मिली हार से तुरंत बाहर नहीं निकल पाता। संभव है यही कारण हो कि प्रशांत किशोर अभी सामने आकर प्रेस को संबोधित करने की स्थिति में न हों।
फिर भी, एक जिज्ञासा बनी हुई है, प्रशांत किशोर इस चुनावी परिणाम को कैसे देखते हैं?
यह दिलचस्पी उनसे राजनीतिक बयान सुनने की कम और रणनीतिकार प्रशांत किशोर की सोच समझने की ज़्यादा है… वही प्रशांत जिन्होंने वर्षों तक दूसरे नेताओं और राजनीतिक दलों के लिए रणनीति बनाई । इंतज़ार इस बात का है कि कब वे सामने आकर पार्टी की हार का खुलकर विश्लेषण करेंगे और पत्रकारों के कठिन सवालों का सामना करेंगे।
