The Solana ecosystem trades over 1,000 assets and has more than 1.2 million users across 19 decentralized protocols.

A critical warning has been issued for users of Solana-based decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms about a malicious Chrome extension known as “Bull Checker.”

This alert was issued by Jupiter, a leading decentralized exchange aggregator on the Solana blockchain, following investigative collaboration with cybersecurity experts and community support.

According to Jupiter Research, this extension, which was supposedly designed to allow users to view holders of memecoins, actually had the capability to alter transaction data.

The extension waits for user interaction with a legitimate dApp, then alters the transaction sent for signing. While the simulation seems normal, the transaction transfers tokens to an attacker’s wallet. “It’s sneaky because the malicious code goes undetected in typical simulations,” said Meow, the pseudonymous founder of Jupiter.

Users should be cautious with extensions that request broad permissions, especially those involving financial transactions or wallet data. Always verify the legitimacy of an extension before confirming any transactions.
