A young lady in her twenties is building an aircraft. Another young man is teaching dogs to smell cancer. A teenager says he's building a rocket and nobody at the table blinks.
This is a normal week in a handful of Bengaluru neighbourhoods.
Look at what the twenty-somethings are building:
- Shreepoorna Rao, 23: the AX1, an 8-metre unmanned aircraft: 20,000 ft, 50 kg payload, 10-hour endurance, the whole stack built in-house ("pure aerospace," he insists)
- Akash Kulgod: Dognosis: detection dogs fused with a statistical model catching cancer at >90% sensitivity and specificity, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology (4 in 5 Indian cancers are caught too late; barely 1 in 100 has ever been screened)
- Khushi Mittal: Aspera's Eureka cargo aircraft: 1,000 kg over 2,000 km at ~20¢/tonne-mile, against the $3–5 air cargo costs today, ~20x faster than a ship. Her line: "make the next Airbus here"
- Suhas Sumukh, 19: LocalHost (now a company with venture, media and software arms; has put three companies into Y Combinator)
-Arnav Bansal's Lagrange Point is happy to sponsor travel for talent to come meet talent.
A decade ago all these folks would be building in California. What keeps them home?
Some nice initiatives:
- Emergent Ventures (run in India by economist Shruti Rajagopalan): decides to fund small projects/ideas/founders on a WhatsApp call, no paperwork, no reports, money in weeks.
The sums are small, a few hundred to a few tens of thousands of dollars; the value is the signal that tells the whole network a young unknown is worth backing
Domestic copies of the same type now exist: gradCapital wrote Rao his first few lakh, then a $40,000 cheque too!
Entrepreneurship focused spaces and rituals that have come up:
- Zo House: India's first permanent hacker house, two Bengaluru sites including a 36,000 sq-ft Whitefield building where founders live and build in cohorts
- Bangerlore: the invite-only house party (250 vetted guests, 4pm to 4am) that went viral this June, thrown by Neil Shroff.
- Lossfunk : a Santa Fe–style research lab funded by Wingify's Paras Chopra, pushing undergrad-authored papers into ICML, ICLR, ACL and RLC
Open doors: ai & weekends, a free weekly co-build, and the Bangalore Paper Club, whose first edition drew 400+ requests to attend.
you can just do things these days!

I am from Muktsar. And studied in the Govt Girls High School that had wall sharing with the Gurudwara Sahib. Our home was in the street near Police Station and Gurudwara Sahib. My brother's friend now I tell you his name Avtar Singh Sidhu told us not to come to the Gurudwara Sahib as was our routine everyday till that day. Dr Gill who was heading the operation at Muktsar, Billu veera as we would call Avatar told us "Mahaul hunn khrab ho gaya. Bahron bahut log aa gaye"
The group killed 13 Hindus in 4.30 am from Muktsar to Chandigarh bus. No one killed any sikh in the name of terrorism.
On the night of Op Bluestar, a Sikh army officer, and a cousin of Dr Gill, announced from the wall of Gurudwara to come forward to surrender. Dr Gill and Billu Veera stepped ahead. But then there with the religious slogan of that side of border, they threw a grenade towards the army officer, which blew his jaw. The officer was immediately airlifted. Then there was shooting from both sides. Billu veera got a bullet in his leg. Later developed cancer and succumbed to that. Dr Gill was arrested later released on the guarantee of eminent personalities of the town, including my father, Dr Chaman Lal Jagga, Dr Usha Gupta. All these facts can be verified from records.
It's the terrorists, who killed 13 Hindus, they marked our homes, they destroyed lives of young friends whom we grew up playing with.
After the operation, we the people of town went to do sewa in Gurudwara Sahib. The terrorists had peeled the gold plated ceiling covering, paintings by Sobha Singh in the baradari. Gurudwara Sahib was in very bad condition. They had also taken out a mural tile depicting Guru Gobind Singh Ji's last war with mughals. They had cut the Van Sahib, the tree, under which Guru Gobind Sahib took rest and tied His horse.
Terrorists killed the SHO Bichhu Ram an SC, at Guru Harsahai Sabji Mandi, they plucked out his heart, drank blood from his chest, and danced around his body.
Now just check about Baljeet Kaur and Rupinder Kaur from Rupana. What they did with them, they were reported missing, their bodies found from the premises of Harimandir Sahib.
The terrorists killed entire shift of engineers of Swaraj Mazda, Ropar. They killed IPS Atwal and his family
Check the facts with names, and places.
@prakdadlani While we can certainly work towards improving things, but it was not 'just 2 days of rains'...
Rains were unprecedented in Mumbai-Pune-Satara-Nasik region.
Other than working on pre things, we must work on post things too to bring things online quickly as such events do happen
I have been asking two questions to the Khalistanis, though without an answer:
Firstly, Who brought the first weapon in the Harmandir Saheb in 1984?
Secondly, who killed the first Khalsa inside the Harmandir Saheb in 1984?
Of course, they turn into ostriches whenever asked this
Nobody judged Silicon Valley on its fifth birthday. When a prime minister now says 'Silicon Valley' in a Gujarat field, the honest response is not to scoff, but to start counting the years.

@prakdadlani This is much needed, more than any kind of subsidy or freebies.
Also a prototyping lab where ppl can build quick prototypes (rent based ofcourse).
Never understood why these guys blamed IG n army for op blue star, and never the guy who created it.
If at all, they should have blamed IG to create the monster, not for operation
1. Honor the terrorist whose acts led to Op Bluestar as a 'Sant'.
2. Call assassins of IG, General Vaidya, CM Beant Singh and others as 'Shaheeds' and put up their pictures in the holiest Sikh shrine.
3. Don't say anything about the reign of terror unleased by Bhindranwale and his terrorists, and later the Khalistanis.
4. Don't utter a single word about 000s of Hindus killed by Sikh terrorists simply because of their religion.
- But a movie on a Khalistani sympathizer and show him as a HR champion and claim the movie is not a one sided narrative.
- You know what? Its good that this debate is happening. Because social media is 'do-dhari talwar'. It is being used to peddle Khalistani narrative. But now, it also being used to dig-up and present the past deed of Khalra in terms of his political views, his writings and his interviews.
Of all the arguments for and against ethanol, the biggest concern which I see is the fact that is consumes SO much water (10,000L of water for 1L of ethanol apparently) to produce it which puts a lot of strain on our already scarce water resources.
And like Mr. @ARanganathan72 rightly pointed out, it makes much more economic sense to build better roads and repair the potholed ones to save fuel than blending ethanol.
We are blending ethanol for our energy security, great! But what about our water?
Looking to learn more about this issue and not argue with anyone.
Bechare modiji , seva teerth bol rahe hain lekin inn logon ne dah bol hi Diya ki Raaj kar rahe hain....
Is Modiji really not in control now? Time to move on for him?
While bjp politicians themselves understand this and are usually receptive of criticism, their blind supporters/chamche are the real problem, they make so much irrelevant noise that proper criticism not reaching top guys.
Bjp will do good to keep away from those chamchas
Bus driver and conductor both watching videos on their phones while speeding at 100 km/h on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway.
This is why accidents keep happening every single day.
This is not one bus. This is the standard practice in most private buses.
You are traveling with death sitting right next to the driver.
How many more people have to die before someone takes action?

Exceptional monsoon rainfall across the ghats! Lonavala recorded 670 mm and Bhira 609 mm in last 24 hours, while several other locations witnessed extremely heavy rainfall—highlighting the exceptional intensity of the ongoing monsoon spell. #Monsoon2026. @Hosalikar_KS@ClimateImd
Everyone was full of praise to df, during inauguration however I hope ppl do criticize him for such a shoddy work too
I am aware rains are quite heavy but quality of work is clearly visible
Assam Forest Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah paid tribute to Joymala, one of Kaziranga National Park's most celebrated patrol elephants, following her death after more than three decades of service.
Born in 1960 and inducted into Kaziranga's conservation efforts in 1992, Joymala participated in anti-poaching patrols, wildlife monitoring, rescue operations and forest protection duties for 34 years.
The Minister recalled the iconic 2004 incident when a tiger leapt over Joymala during a patrol, a moment that became one of the most recognised images associated with Kaziranga.
Despite receiving veterinary treatment for nearly a year, Joymala died on Saturday at the park's Agoratoli Range and was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour during her last rites. Her legacy continues through her offspring, several of whom remain in service as patrol elephants in Kaziranga.
This guy doesn't know the difference between children and adults!!
Can companies themselves not declare that? Except of contingency staff they can ask employees to WFH. Why does everything have to be govt driven?
Pune Hon Collector orders schools to be closed on Monday & employees to report to office in boats .
Why #WorkfromHome advisory is never given for IT companies when most employees travel via water logged roads ?
