▪️The Central Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) had raised an EDS (Essential Details Sought) for the Kalpasar Project few weeks back.

▪️However, the Kalpasar Department has now replied to all the queries raised by the ministry and with this, the project is expected to get environmental clearance soon.

Here are the technical details of the ambitious Kalpasar Project:

▪️Dyke length in the gulf (sea portion): 26.7 km
▪️Dyke length towards east (Bharuch district): 13.6 km
▪️Dyke length towards west (Bhavnagar district): 19.83 km
▪️Total dyke length: 60.13 km
▪️Total freshwater reservoir capacity: 7807 million cubic metres (Approx 275 TMC)
▪️Rail/road corridor: 130 metre wide. 16-lane roadway along with 4-lane width for rail transport over the Dyke.
▪️Flood regulator to discharge flood water.
▪️Fresh water basin: 1600 square km
