Absolutely appalled by today’s ruling allowing the slaughter of ~400 healthy ostriches. The Supreme Court has dealt a moral blow by refusing to stop this needless destruction. These are sentient creatures, showing no symptoms, and yet they are condemned—while we claim to value life and compassion. This isn’t public‑health prudence, it’s institutional cruelty.

The CFIA and our government should have shown mercy to these beautiful animals. They threatened the farm owners that they would have been charged hundreds of thousands of dollars if they tested the Ostrices to prove there was no infection and they are healthy

Even the United States offered to take the birds, giving them a chance at life, and still they are condemned. It’s profoundly disgusting that living beings are treated this way. Well done Canada. Well done. SMH
