7 years ago today I was taught a brutal lesson.
When I was 14-15 years old I used to work at a pub near my house getting paid £3.78 per hour
I washed pots and pans from 9am-4pm every Saturday. I was a fucking hustler. It wasn’t easy work.
After saving money for weeks and weeks and weeks I thought I’d treat myself
I spend £400 on a Gucci watch because I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
However, after 2 weeks of owning it someone from my school stole it during P.E. (I left it in my blazer pocket)
*poof*, 100+ hours of work had just vanished and I never got it back.
This taught me extremely quickly that money IS time + energy.
I was one of the worst feelings knowing someone had taken those hours away from me.
But I’m glad it happened. It made me:
1) Respect money and never take it for granted
2) Always know you can make it back.
I literally felt like I had lost everything and that I would never recover (over dramatic I know, but I was 15)
But the rest is history and now I’m living my dream life.
Never quit.
