After a successful pilot with a lovely client I think copywriting is something I also do now.
So if you want warm, friendly words without cliches then pop me a message.
James Blake has been in the news this week, rightly calling out Ticketmaster for not sharing data with artists.
But if you are an artist, do you know how to get the people who come and see you live to join your mailing list? 🧵...
When I worked as a live music promoter artists never asked me for the email addresses of ticket buyers and I didn’t think to set it up 😩. If that’s you, sorry I can’t send them now due to GDPR laws!
I’ve used all of these techniques over the years as a promoter and a marketer to build valuable mailing lists for myself and the artists and companies I’ve worked with, and they definitely work.
There’s plenty you can do to build your list, so I’ve put together a FREE checklist ✅ of 10 straightforward tasks to help artists, DJs, dance/ theatre companies turn the fans who want to see them live in to subscribers.
There’s also a data sharing clause you can copy and paste to send promoters/ venues, examples of subscriber perks, and a sample newsletter sign-up sheet in case you’re not sure what language to use.
James Blake is 100% right, companies like Ticketmaster SHOULD share email addresses with artists. BUT, most artists and companies aren’t James Blake, and a lot of smaller venues/ promoters WILL do this if you ask them to in advance.
When I worked in the funded arts sector I found out it’s standard practice for venues to share this data with dance and theatre companies ✨ BUT they don’t always think to set it up correctly in advance.
