To us Chinese, Mao Zedong is our hero.
Mao uplifted farmers and the working class in China, united the Chinese people, led us to defeat foreign invaders, and founded an independent country so we could all live with dignity.
Mao supported the heroic struggle of the African people against imperialism and colonialism.
He was one of the greatest leaders in world history, and one of the most demonized by the West.
President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva @LulaOficial on his re-election as President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
President Xi applauded President Lula’s contributions to China–Brazil relations and pledged to work with him to elevate the China–Brazil community with a shared future to new heights.
China takes note of the announcement by Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court of President Lula’s runoff victory @LulaOficial and extends congratulations. China stands ready to work with Brazil to advance the building of the China-Brazil community with a shared future.
If learning Mandarin, KungFu, Chinese calligraphy and dance at Confucius Institutes poses threats to the US, then how many years and how seriously has China been threatened by the US? As so many Chinese learn and speak English, watch Hollywood and Disney movies, and drink Starbucks?
The Chinese Embassy appreciates the reiteration of the one-China policy by the DFA of the Philippines. Under current circumstances, this public statement is timely and necessary in preventing certain forces from sabotaging China-Philippines relations by playing with the Taiwan question.
In the mean time, the Embassy doesn’t accept the DFA public statements in relation to the Embassy’s pushing back against attacks and smears on China. The Embassy is always committed to managing differences with the Philippines through diplomatic channel. Meanwhile the Chinese Embassy will not remain silent when China’s interests and dignity are undermined. This is the duty that diplomatic mission must perform.
Ambassador Jing Quan Made Strong Demarches to Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Theresa Lazaro over the Philippine Anti-China Politicians’ Smear and Slander Against China
On October 19, 2026, Ambassador Jing Quan met with Philippine Foreign Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro at request, making strong demarches over the recent remarks of Philippine officials and politicians which take things out of context and constitute smear and slander against the Chinese side.
Ambassador Jing said that, recently, I have been invited to the Second Diliman Dialogue and delivered a key-note speech. During the coffee break, I took an ambush interview by the local media. My key point is “separate” regarding the handling of China-Philippines relations. That means, adopt a differentiated approach to handle the problems of various sectors, based on their own merits instead of linking one to another. We should enhance dialogue, manage differences and deepen cooperation, create more good stories, good news. Let the good aspects prevail over bad ones. Otherwise we may easily fall into the situation of countermeasures and retaliation.
The DFA statement claims that my remarks seem to convey a thinly veiled “threat”. I cannot agree. What is threat? If you don’t follow me, I will hurt you. This is threat. But my point is despite our capacity, we don’t have the intention to use force. Because we are friends and close neighbors. There is no need to resort to force.
Peace is hard-won in this region. We should cherish the peace. This is not called “threat”, but the effort to uphold peace. On maritime disputes, China has exercised great restraint. However, the Philippines should not take it as weakness, and further challenge our patience regardless of boundary and bottom line. We hope the Philippine side will fully and accurately understand our position and views, and avoid selective quotation, over-interpretation and over-reaction.
The Chinese side fully agrees that “the business of diplomacy requires tact and restraint in order to create space for discourse, dialogue and engagement.” However, when DND Secretary Gibo Teodoro cut off the communication channel between our two militaries for 3 years, and announce loudly that he has no intention to restore; when he stormed into the factory with armed forces to arrest innocent Chinese workers; when he joined foreign forces to attack and smear Chinese-language education and forced 180 teachers to leave the Philippines; when he accused China as “troublemaker” in the region, is that what you call “diplomacy, prudence, and restraint”?
When some anti-China politicians and officials deliberately smear and attack China and Chinese leaders; when anti-China forces sent 5 coffins to our Embassy and Chinatown; when the uniformed Philippine personnel claim China as “the biggest threat”, has the Philippines shown any basic respect to your close neighbor with millennium-friendship?
When the Philippine side has carried out at least 10 infringement activities and provocations at sea in the recent one month, which was more than doubled; when some anti-China politicians keep threatening to declare me “persona non grata” and push through anti-China resolutions, we do not see any “professionalism” and “restrain”.
The Taiwan question is at the core of China’s core interests. Recently, the Philippine side has continued to make negative moves on Taiwan-related issues. The Chinese side is highly concerned and has lodged solemn representations over this. If the Philippine side does not respect China’s core concerns, how can it expect the reciprocal respect from China?
Secretary Teodoro, Jay Tarriela, as well as some senators and congressmen/congresswomen, have blatantly launched waves of campaigns to attack and smear China. They are either government officials or elected legislators, can the DFA argue that they do not represent the Philippine government’s position? The Philippine side has expressed the wish to reset our bilateral relations several times. What’s exactly the China policy of the Philippines? What has been done on the Philippine side? When bad things keep occurring and really hurting China-Philippines relations, where is the diplomatic manner the Philippines keeps talking about?
Ambassador Jing stressed that mutual respect and win-win cooperation is a two-way lane. The Chinese Embassy serves as a bridge for promoting friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and also as a fortress in safeguarding China’s national interests and dignity. No one should expect the Chinese Embassy to keep silent in the face of smear and attack against China. Our bilateral relations are at a very sensitive and complicated juncture. We urge the Philippine side to earnestly respect China’s core interests and concerns, take necessary measures immediately to restrain those anti-China politicians and ill-intentioned forces from dragging our bilateral relations into the dangerous situation of confrontation.
I. Recently, Philippine military and law enforcement personnel, along with anti-China forces, have been actively undermining China-Philippines relations, engaging in extensive rights violations and provocations at sea in an attempt to create incidents. The number of such incidents has doubled compared with the past.
On September 24, the Philippine side attempted to forcibly deliver supplies to its illegally “grounded” warship at Ren’ai Jiao without China’s consent.
On October 3, the Philippine side dispatched a government aircraft to intrude into the airspace over China’s Huangyan Dao.
On October 15, a Philippine warship launched a shipborne helicopter in waters near the territorial sea of China’s Huangyan Dao, and the helicopter illegally intruded into the airspace over Huangyan Dao.
In late September, the Philippine side abused its position as co-chair of the Experts’ Working Group on Maritime Security under the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus), violated the principle of consensus, and dragged several countries into conducting joint military exercises in the airspace and waters near China’s Huangyan Dao.
In mid-October, the Philippine side joined the United States in conducting the 16th bilateral maritime cooperative activity in the South China Sea, including joint patrols.
On September 18, Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources vessel No. 3015, disregarding repeated stern warnings from the Chinese side in waters near China’s Xianbin Jiao, deliberately altered its course and suddenly accelerated to cut across the bow of a China Coast Guard vessel at an angle, resulting in a sideswipe collision.
From late September to mid-October, the Philippine Coast Guard wantonly harassed the Chinese research vessels JIAHAIKE7, HAIYANGDIZHISHIHAO and MENGXIANG while they were conducting normal operations in waters under China’s jurisdiction. It also harassed Chinese fishermen and their fishing vessels engaged in fishing in waters near Chinese islands and reefs, including Nanyao Dao and Mahuan Dao, that have been illegally occupied by the Philippine side. These actions endangered the safety of Chinese personnel and vessels.
The above-mentioned actions by the Philippine side have caused tensions at sea to escalate continuously in recent weeks. China has taken resolute and effective measures to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
II. China will continue to take resolute measures to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, and to protect the legitimate and lawful rights of Chinese vessels and personnel in waters under China’s jurisdiction. China demands that the Philippine side genuinely respect China’s territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests, faithfully abide by international law and the basic norms governing international relations, immediately cease its illegal occupation of Chinese islands and reefs and its unlawful activities in waters under China’s jurisdiction, and immediately stop taking any unilateral actions that could lead to an expansion of disputes or further complicate the situation.
MESSAGE TO DFA:
Holding Philippine high-ranking elected officials accountable for reckless, inflammatory remarks and constantly smearing and maligning a neighboring country and urging them to watch their words and handle matters diplomatically is about preserving bilateral relations. It is not a failure of diplomacy.
Using thuggish, hooligan-style language to launch personal attacks on others—is this the calibre and standards of a Philippine senator? Is this the diplomacy and prudence that the DFA claims to uphold?
Premier Li Qiang: China will continue to promote high-quality development, expand high-standard opening up, and take proactive and practical actions to add more impetus to the world economy.
China will:
1️⃣ Share more market opportunities.
2️⃣ Expand more mutually beneficial cooperation.
3️⃣ Firmly uphold the international economic and trade order.
