I’ve often applauded young people like Bittu Tabahi who simply decided they’d had enough of seeing our water bodies neglected, rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

I hope more and more people follow their example.

But this story caught my attention for a slightly different reason.

This wasn’t about one individual. It was about a whole community coming together. Local citizens, civic authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders, all pitching in to bring a river back to life.

There’s something very powerful about that.

When we stop asking “Who is going to fix this?” and start asking “How can WE fix this?”, things begin to change.

So today, it’s not an individual but an entire set of stakeholders forming a community that provides my #MondayMotivation.

Addendum: There is a reason why corporate vultures like Apollo are now openly embracing Ayurveda. It is business opportunity. Indian populace is predominatly low critical thinking and high faith based and so these pseudoscientific sermons travel easy on the empty highway between two ear canals.

These boomers are the reason why utter nonsensical ancient mumbo-jumbo like Ayurveda was never questioned in the first place and now they are promoting it to float their private hospital business. Pathetic.

Social media has twisted medical information so much that people have normalised alcohol, IARC Group 1 (definite cause of cancer in humans) agent as socially acceptable, but are perpetually scared of aspartame, IARC Group 2B (no cancer association in humans) in Diet Sodas. This was the most depressing news in a long time. Fake and poor quality medicines and relabelled drugs are not new to India. It has led to death of children and adults in large numbers across decades and is a pressing concern. But this was another kind of monster. Calculated, premeditated and utterly vile - to do this to patients, especially cancer patients, most of whom take loans to pay for their treatments.

The investigating team MUST be transparent about: the timeline, drugs and their (labelled) brand names, type of formulation (injectable and non-injectable) batch number and manufacturing details and clinic/hospital these were allotted to and the patients who received them (including duration).

I think the public deserves to know how this has affected them/ family members. Many people would have died because they were on the fake drug - people who should have survived and lived long with proper care. India is a place of disgust. Septic tank of the world. People do inhuman things for money.

Scammy Baba here is the Indian government's open secret service for population control. I have always wondered why nonsense alternative medicine and it's rubbish practitioners keep thriving into a modern, technologically advanced world.

I used to fight with their stupidity and indoctrinated views and now finally I accept their value in community and their role in healthcare.

They are here to limit human population from exploding. Much like Indonesian volcanoes erupting to push sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere to cool the earth down once in a while.

People are competing with each other for the Darwin Award everyday in India. And we need these modern hunger games sponsored by the alternative medicine industry and its stakeholders. Those who do not participate in these, congratulations, you have a brain.

Thomas Edison said: Just because something doesn't do what you planned it to do doesn't mean it's useless.

Alternative medicine does exactly the opposite of what it's practitioners believe it does.

You people won't understand cavemen and snake charmers like Scamdev's value now. You will, later.

All of Indian politics is fundamentally wrong. It is built around religious, caste and ethnic tribalism rather than ideas, individual rights and good governance.

The entire political framework needs to be thrown out-lock, stock and barrel-and rebuilt around citizens, not tribes.

Thank you! I get the time to do all things I love, because I have an excellent group of colleagues whom I can pretty much blindly depend on. And they love the work they do!

Dr. Rizwan Ahamed, featured here is my advanced Gastroenterology and Endoscopy colleague who does the most complex interventions and tackle the most challenging cases in gastroenterology, including in my shockingly difficult to treat liver patients.

Dr. Rajesh, featured next, is the chief of my interventional hepatology unit - whose work I have extensively discussed in my non-fiction book (The Liver Doctor) - the ease at which he does the most complicated life saving liver procedures is for me, the best in the country.

Apart from these two super-colleagues, I also have Dr. Tharun Tom, my in-charge of in-patient and critical care hepatology, because of whom, I am able to spend time on science communication, write books and educate public via social media. If you cant find me to manage patients, he is the guy to go to.

I am an average doctor with additional passions looking to do extraordinary things - and not a superhuman - but I have a team that makes me feel like one, because they are extremely competent and absolutely wonderful human beings - whom I can blindly trust, to take care of my patients.

The Great Leader wants the country to celebrate 7.8% growth.

My question: Who exactly should celebrate?

The people? I don’t see it on the streets.

Whether GDP growth is 7.8%, 10% or 100%, it’s ultimately a number on a spreadsheet. If it doesn’t translate into better education, more jobs, greater happiness and people fulfilling their dreams, what exactly are we celebrating?

This is what happens when the not-so-foolish continue to fool the good people of the country.

Are some Indians living in denial?

Point out garbage-strewn streets and they say, “Where? I don’t see it.”

Everyone thinks changing the government will magically fix India. It won’t. Many of India’s problems aren’t just political—they’re behavioral.

Who threw the garbage on the street? We did.
Who pays the bribe? We do.
Who evades taxes? We do.
Who looks away when rules are broken? We do.

We can’t blame “India” or the government for everything while refusing to examine our own behavior.

Real change begins when we stop pretending everything is great, confront reality, and ask the most uncomfortable question:

“What am I doing to contribute to the problem?”

So-called Naturopaths in India are frying eggs and applying them over limbs of paralysed patients claiming 100% recovery from sensory loss. On one hand, BJP promoted governance is removing nutritious eggs from public school midday meals, while on the other, BJP promoted alternative medicine is wasting eggs by smothering them on paralysed patients. Where the hell is this country headed?
