This teacher doesn't put grades on the test. She just highlights mistakes and uses the highlighted sections as a lesson the new class. I'm not sure if I'd go as far as she does, but I like the idea of using it rather than reducing education to something that can be studied for.

When the class is continually out of hand, sometimes you need a do-over. It's far better to take time from one class than to lose them for a semester. Review classroom rules again, discuss changes with students and agree to move forward with everyone on the same page.

The associate teacher keeps a mason jar in class and adds marbles for each well behaved class. If students fill the mason jar by the end of the month, they get a party. September nearly filled. October filled. Half through November - 1/8th of the way...
