An article in EEN celebrates the anniversary of the LEZ zone. The council lied that NO2 levels exceeded the legal standard.
Scientists warned “Reducing pollution in city centres will likely have a minimal impact on public health."
Who do you trust? Scientists or the council?
@JohnfaeScotland They have designed a similar monstrosity for the junction of Braid Hills Road and Comiston Road. It is a junction with many large lorries turning into it.
@JohnfaeScotland@LRichieScott@SocEnvJustice The councillors who know most about a design are often prevented from taking part as they might be deemed to hold an interest; councillors who take their place know far less - but as you say, zealots with agendas ignore the evidence.
@JohnfaeScotland Spot-on! Solving problems which weren’t actually problems and making it difficult for large vehicles to turn - eg these are the designs for the junction of Braid Hills Rd and Pentland Terrace (Comiston Rd).
@JohnfaeScotland Very interesting - thank you! - figures for Lothian Road are astonishing. Using the more reliable manual stats, 2013 =17713 cars & taxis and 2889 bus and coach; 2022=13933 c&t and 1308 b&c.
@CllrWhyte@garageross@JohnfaeScotland Under items for scrutiny 8.8 (Air Quality Report) I expect you can raise the issue in the TEC meeting on Thursday. Of course we all know the answer - they hide negative data.
@garageross@JohnfaeScotland Yes Cllr Munro shows excellent common sense; Cllr Whyte follows this thread, takes a significant interest in air quality reports and is also on TEC committee - so he will probably ask this question
@JohnfaeScotland The report on Edinburgh’s ‘Air Quality Progress Annual Report’ has been published for next Thursday’s TEC meeting - item 8.8. Can John tell us if it is a fair report? https://t.co/E34aQmMgvA
Council officers never cease to amaze by their use of language. In defending new parking charges in Portobello, they say “Long stay parking is often used by commuters, who effectively sterilise space by creating conditions where shoppers and others cannot park.” Sterilise?
@JohnfaeScotland@ABDinScotland Ignoring the 20mph limit is sensible on many arterial roads; the council ignored the strong opposition to 20 mph on certain roads in their flawed consultation with dubious “market research”.
@garageross@markchristie It’s not a new tactic - see FOI 47303 where the Info Commissioner ruled against CEC on the grounds that the £75 charge was unreasonable - the second time they have done so.
@JohnfaeScotland The two Lothian Rd ones are confusing - one shows a large increase ( No.45), the other a minimal one (No.139). They need to highlight the precise location on the chart.
@AgentP22 The strength of feeling about the hated LTN is shown by a Crowdfunding request which reached its target of £5,000 within little more than a day in order to challenge the legality of setting aside the 556 objections.
