The story of the year in 2021 was this one written on Foreign Substance use in Baseball. It started a media storm & changed the game
But did you know the story was written here in Pittsburgh at PVS?
A brief history of PVS is woven into the piece as well

Luke Lamitina
A PVS Boy from East Pittsburgh. He went to @Caltech to play baseball, but found his calling throwing the javelin.
Video 1: A truly great story from a kid who may one day change the World with his work in Astrophysics 🧠
Video 2: Luke Lifting buckets full of rocks and sand during the COVID lockdown to stay in shape
File 3: a letter Luke wrote to us days after he graduated from @wt_news
PVS helps build more than just athletes. As we say: #PhysicalFourPoint0
We have so many Luke Stories.
🛠️He once built a radar gun out of RadioShack parts
🗣️He once studied the theory that making a loud noise when you threw actually helps one throw harder…..immediately- Some of the younger kids started screaming on Velo days when they threw. 😆
A truly great story and a Young man headed to Stanford @KDPomp@SteveRotstein@TribLIVE@JoeStarkey1@AustinRBechtold@ChrisMuellerPGH@BREAL412@SteveRotstein@CaltechEvents@StanfordXCTF

📖Transfer Portal News You can use📖
For NCAA Division I softball, the transfer portal opens today and closes on June 22, 2026
For NCAA Division l baseball- the portal opened June 1 and will close June 30.
Graduate transfers may have more flexibility outside these dates in some cases, but they generally follow similar guidelines.
For NCAA Division II ⚾️🥎 there are no fixed dates like the D1 window but there are a few quirks. What follows is for 2026 and may not be accurate beyond this year.
If you wish to enter the portal you should Notify your compliance office/AD. The school must enter you into the NCAA Transfer Portal within seven consecutive calendar days. Once entered, other DII (and eligible) coaches can contact you directly. There is a June 15 Deadline for undergrad students who are considering transferring to others D2 institutions….DII undergraduate student-athletes (across all sports, including baseball and softball) should submit written notification of intent to transfer by June 15 for considerations related to the upcoming academic year, roster planning, and eligibility. Missing it does not necessarily block a transfer, but it can complicate timing. This “anytime” approach (with the practical June 15 push) gives DII athletes more leeway than the rigid sport-specific windows in DI.
Many players are announcing their intent publicly. Many keep their options open by not entering the portal formally but having representatives contact/ gauge interest/ negotiate for them behind the scenes. Though not technically legal - this happens often enough that it is now considered common practice. Most of these “representatives” are influential national travel org heads or facility owners with a national reputation.
