I think the biggest worry from yesterday was the lack of basic energy and hard work. Not tracking runners has nothing to do with tactics or the ability of players. It's a basic requirement in sport in any level, work hard! Arne Slot commented that Nottingham Forest threw themselves at every ball, that should be the minimum Liverpool are willing to do defensively.

I believe Arne Slot has the ability to turn this around but I just hope the squad does too, because not being willing to work your socks off is a serious worry.

Virgil Van Dijk is lacking a quality partner at the moment. His own performances have been sub par but he's been much better than Ibrahima Konate.

It's not as easy job for Arne Slot to find a way to get the best out of all these new signings but that's why he gets paid well. Don't be surprised to read in time he may not have been so keen on so many new faces coming in.

Five accurate passes from Alexander Isak yesterday is a startling statistic.

So where do we go from here? We need to see an immediate improvement. I would love to see Arne Slot turn things around and I believe he can. But this lacklustre effort can't go on forever.

He writes:

“Marc Guehi is expected to stay at Crystal Palace despite an agreement to take the defender to Liverpool being reached on deadline day.

The England international, 25, completed at least part of a medical after a fee of £35million was agreed between the clubs. Personal terms on a five-year contract to 2030 were also in place.

Head coach Oliver Glasner has been vocally opposed to Guehi’s sale this summer and has been resolute that his captain could not be allowed to leave unless an appropriate replacement was found."
