I joined Twitter in 2009 as I was standing for election (long story) & it seemed like a good, relevant place to be.
It became quite a formative place — especially working in comedy. I found community here too, in more than one sense.
Now it's time to leave. Please stay in touch
Twitter has quietly removed a policy against the “targeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender individuals,” raising concerns that the Elon Musk-owned platform is becoming less safe for marginalized groups. https://t.co/HeqEumUocV
We welcome the announcement that the Scottish Government seeks to challenge the Section 35 order in court.
The Gender Recognition Reform Bill simply seeks to make the process for legally recognising a trans man or trans women’s gender more respectful and straightforward.

Finally, I want to note the hard work of everyone at @EdFringeSociety, both in making the fund happen and turning it around so quickly.
They're often on the receiving end of criticism (including from me!) — but really crucial to shout just as loud about successes like this fund.
Love seeing how many queer, working class and disabled artists are in the list of Keep It Fringe fund recipients!
Too many highlights to include them all, but they include… Best in Class, @morriseysquiff @TomMayhew@hashtagcerys @ImLeeKyle @Hutch_up

Sadly the fund was v oversubscribed, with only 50 bursaries and 677 applicants — but this is a pilot and is already being used to make the case for more financial support.
Can you / your company / your rich uncle contribute? Email @EdFringeSociety at [email protected] 🤞
We especially welcome applications from writers who are #blind or #VisionImpaired and would use Audio Descriptions to enjoy film, and writers who are #deaf#Deaf and would use British Sign Language interpretations.

The questions:
- Tell us about your show and what stage you’re at in your plans for Fringe 2023. (200 words)
- What will you spend your £2,000 Fringe 2023 funding on? (200 words)
- Tell us what you hope to achieve in Fringe 2023 and your ambitions for your show. (200 words)
REMINDER: if you're performing at this year's @edfringe, you have until MIDDAY TOMORROW to apply for one of 50 ‘no strings attached’ bursaries of £2,000.
Applications are essentially three questions, 600 words max. You don't need a confirmed venue/slot.

me: forgot to take my ADHD meds this morning but think I'm functioning okay
also me:
- loads washing machine but doesn't put it on
- starts writing eight emails but doesn't finish a single one
- heats up soup, puts it in a bowl, then leaves it to go cold
Incredibly cool from Phoebe Waller-Bridge and @EdFringeSociety — 50 bursaries of £2,000 to help individual artists/companies bring their show to the 2023 Fringe:
https://t.co/jVI0NtY5dc
50 bursaries is obviously just a start, but:
- application involves writing 600 words max
- £2,000 is awarded up-front
- no end-of-grant reporting
Anyone worried about Fringe costs should absolutely apply!
Although the club is not pointing fingers, there are suspicions among other prominent members of the small, pico-ballooning enthusiasts community.
