On paper, Go salaries look higher: 26% of Gophers earn above $120k, compared to 14% for Python. But learning Go won't automatically raise yours.
If we restrict the comparison to senior devs, the gap stops being significant: 20% of senior Gophers earn more than $120k, compared to 22% of senior Pythonistas. Go roles pay more simply because they tend to be senior roles.

An agent writes the code now. Do you still need an IDE?
You do if you want to understand and verify what the agent did.

-Air in IDEs: for developers
-Air Teams: for team leads & engineering managers
-Air Governance: for CTOs & engineering directors
Hereโs how to try these things:

12,000+ Python and Go developers told us what tools they use, how they ship code, and how much they earn.
We then interviewed seven engineers who had already moved production services from Python to Go to dive deeper into their experiences.

@Glitch253 Hi! Unethical training is scraping code regardless of its license, or using copyrighted material nobody agreed to share.
Mellum is trained on permissively licensed code, with no shady copyrighted data. That's all "ethically trained" means here.
Meet Mellum2.1 โ JetBrains' open-source 12B MoE model built for coding agents and local execution.

We connected IntelliJ IDEAโs code intelligence to Claude Code and Codex, then tested the setup with Netflix.
The first public results are out.
Typical efficiency gains: 20โ30%.
Best code-navigation case: ~65%.
These results come from two real codebases. The efficiency metric averages token savings and time savings.
Correctness stayed stable or improved.
Hereโs what we actually built.
The code engine behind IntelliJ IDEA ran headlessly, giving agents access to its capabilities through a CLI backed by a daemon.
LSP alone wasnโt sufficient.
Agents needed a convenient way to invoke the tools. The backend also needed to stay running and keep the project index warm between calls.
The idea is straightforward.
An IDE has already mapped the structure of your code and its dependencies โ including whatโs inside compiled libraries.
An agent can use that knowledge instead of spending time and tokens reconstructing it.
But the most interesting finding was which models benefited most.
The strongest models saw the biggest gains.
Especially at higher reasoning effort.
In these experiments, more capable models were also better at taking advantage of code intelligence.
My takeaway: better models and better tools arenโt competing bets.
You donโt have to choose between investing in model intelligence and giving agents better access to your codebase.
The two can reinforce each other.
Huge thanks to @pbakker and the Netflix team for working with us on this!
๐ Python 3.15 is here! One feature worth trying is explicit lazy imports.
They let you defer loading a module until your code actually uses it. For applications with costly imports, that can mean a much faster startup thanks to the use of built-in Python syntax.
Lazy imports arrived in PyCharm 2026.2 and will be enhanced further in 2026.3. Try them in the 2026.3 EAP now.
Curious how they work? Cheuk walks you through the feature and benchmarks it in our blog post: https://t.co/EqnowFtbxN
