have faith; not in a deity, but rather humanity itself. That we can be good and kind and creative even in a bleak world. And religion can be that, a place where people lose individuality and become a mass, working across centuries for a moment of 'divine' connectedness

Covid has cheated me out of having another satisfying ending/goodbye to something that occupied over a year of my life whoop

I didn’t get to have my final term at undergrad due to the first lockdown, now I don’t get to go into my final days at my first job and say goodbye to my coworkers because I actually have the plague (for the first time) 🙃🙃🙃

anyway it wasnt my favourite of his films (i love the witch, what can I say?) but I really appreciate the attention to the research, and I'm thinking I may write up some bits about the ulfheðnar, barrow fights, funeral, and seiðr witch bc they were all done so so well

just watched the northman and i have a lot of thoughts and chief among them is that the the producers should have let eggers have all the full frontal male nudity that he clearly wanted

anyway second in my head is that eggers is definitely my favourite historical fiction director -- i think he's the only director that understands that 'being historically accurate' is valuable since it teaches you about stuff that is weirder than anything you can think up
