Since it is Juneteenth, I would like to remind my fellow white Americans that a large majority of trends, music, fashion, etc. would not be so popular in the U.S. without black people. I would also like to remind my fellow white queers that we would not be able to celebrate
Juneteenth didn’t mark the end of enslavement in the USA.
Not only did enslavement continue illegally for years, but to this day it remains legal to enslave incarcerated folks— a group that is disproportionately BIPOC.
Happy Juneteenth, but always remember the fight isn’t over.
