I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you’re allowed to have opinions—even strong and lightly-informed ones—on matters of public interest. Nobody can stop you, and anyone who tries to shame you about it should be roundly bullied.
God bless America.
@bouguereau_stan@atlanticesque We had massive internal migrations of southerners (famously black southerners but also plenty of whites) in the early 20th century. Then post-WWII millions of people moved to the Sun Belt (AZ as one example among many, this almost entirely long-distance internal migration).
@lumipuna@moultano Haha, yes. It’s tricky when you’re talking relative positions of continents in an ocean over a flexible substrate. On long enough timescales it’s like a puddle on a waterbed.
@adesertdryad A lot of <gestures around> this is downstream of guys genuinely not having any clue what they have to offer, and thus being suspicious of women’s motivations.
“She’ll love me and want to take care of me” isn’t in their mental model. It’s very sad.
@nicholascarrigg Awesome, it looks great. I’m guessing you have more builders in your area familiar with new-historic builds than we do, but I’m definitely going to be hitting you up for more details when we get closer to building.
@nephew_jonathan@zeta_globin On the relevant time scales I just assume we’re talking tectonics—it came from volcanism, it was absorbed by oxidation of newly exposed rock—but that’s rather unsatisfying hand-waving.
@PstafarianPrice No just normal Hass type when they have an almond-sized pit.
That might just be me finding the dark cloud to every silver lining, though.
