i think it’s a defensive thing
a lot of people from Luzon use “bisaya” as an insult/derogatory. my dad experienced it so bad that he will never go to manila again
i live in the US now and whenever i tried to speak tagalog, they make fun of my bisaya accent so i dont try anymore🥲
