The quantum bears really did not want this one coming out.
From our streaming platform going down, to our recordings coming out corrupted, this was the episode that shouldn't have been.
But against all odds, here is QBTLL #14.
Thank you all for your patience and we hope you're as excited about these updates as we are! 🩵

In just 48 hours, participants of the edcsa(dot) fail challenge surpassed the benchmark that Google put forth in their latest ECC paper.
There were no incentives attached -- just a drive to push the bounds of what's possible.
Now think about what happens when the same model is backed by massive $TAO prizes.
@EnigmaSN63 launches tomorrow. Don't miss it
Pretty fortuitous timing for this challenge to blow up.
In just 48 hours, innovators from across the world were able to optimize Shor's to surpass the benchmark put forth by Google in their recent landmark paper.
This is the power of decentralized intelligence.
By putting research out in the open, not only do innovations happen much faster, but we also give critical insight to the world on where we're most vulnerable.
You won't have to wonder when your keys will be compromised.
You'll have clear insight into when it's coming.
In the same week, we're launching Enigma, which seeks to push the boundaries of what's possible with encryption cracking today.
The perfect complement to edcsa(dot)fail, which is trying to lower the barrier needed to break encryption.
The future is coming and it will happen in the open.
Be ready.

We'll instead go live next Thursday 5/21.
In the meantime, expect plenty of content live from the event and be sure to keep up-to-date with subnet development on our X accounts.
We're excited to be back with you all soon!
@EnigmaSN63 just became the first subnet to route miner emission to @bittensor's new Treasury Wallet feature.
This is a groundbreaking step towards decentralization for the network, giving owners the tools to pool miner emission for winner-take-all incentive mechanisms while eliminating the risk of a rug pull from bad actors.
Today marks the first day of seeing that feature in action.
Thanks to @21RoundTable for being the first validator to take the leap and work with our team to implement our code.
A huge shoutout is also owed to the @ChurchOfRao for not only developing the feature, but also guiding us through the implementation and continuing to work tirelessly to patch bugs as they've been found.
If you'd like to contribute to the bug-finding (and win rewards), check out our Breaking Treasury Wallets challenge:
https://t.co/ThdTn9kcVb
We also wanted to give a massive thanks to @const_reborn for setting this feature in motion and for continuing to build infrastructure that promotes true decentralization on Bittensor.
We're thrilled to be the first subnet to take this step towards zero-trust prize pools and can't wait to see other subnet follow suit.
Look who stopped by the office!
Great to chat with Hunter Beast (@cryptoquick, @SurmountSystems) and Theo Fields (@theobcvc) on the latest happenings in the quantum and crypto spaces!
You may recognize Hunter from his work on a certain Google paper that has been all the rage in crypto lately 👀
@JosephJacks_ If you are looking for exposure to Quantum Computing, @QuantumSN48 has you covered!
Decentralized access to quantum computers is opening QPU time to innovators from all walks of life. Only possible on the worlds most innovative decentralized network that we know you love too-- @bittensor 🩵
Careful though-- physical qubits ≠ progress.
Actual progress is 🔥
The QPU industry's actual failure isn't the trajectory it's the access model. Research can't get QPU time without piles of money. (That's what @QuantumSN48 fixes on @bittensor).
For the geeks-- a few important notes:
→ Dec 2023, IBM Condor hit 1,121 qubits. Missing from your chart. Same summit, IBM also announced Heron at 156 qubits with way better fidelity. Condor was a feasibility milestone, not a production target.
Translation: industry decided quality is the new game. The whole industry pivoted that quarter. Charting physical qubits after that is charting a metric the field deliberately abandoned. IBM
→ Dec 2024, Google Willow crossed below-threshold error correction. First time in the field's 30-year history. A 101-qubit distance-7 code with logical error suppressed by Λ = 2.14 per code-distance increase, exceeding the best physical qubit's lifetime by 2.4x.
Translation: Adding qubits now makes errors better, not worse. This is a key inflection.
→ Microsoft + Quantinuum: 12 logical qubits running with circuit error rate of 0.0011 vs. 0.024 for physical — 22x improvement.
Translation: Logical isn't theoretical anymore.
→ Oxford Ionics: 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity in 2025. Quantinuum: 99.9%+.
Why is this important: Its squarely in the regime where error correction actually works.
→ RSA factoring requirement: dropped from 20 million qubits to ~1 million in 2025.
Goalpost moved 20x closer in a single paper.
→ Quantinuum Helios shipped commercially Nov 2025 — 98 fully-connected trapped-ion qubits, >99.9% fidelity, with a new real-time control engine.
This is production hardware, today.
Right metrics to watch are logical qubits and gate fidelity. Both are on a tear.
Charting physical qubit count past 2023 is like charting CPU GHz past 2005 (measuring the metric the industry deliberately stopped optimizing)
The timeline for Q-Day is shrinking by the minute.
Quantum's biggest skeptics are quickly changing their tune, warning that the emergence of fault-tolerant quantum computers is just around the corner.
"Please start switching to quantum-resistant encryption, and urge your company or organization or blockchain or standards body to do the same", writes Scott Aaronson in his latest blog post.
We're rapidly approaching a world where cryptosystems like RSA and ECC are made obsolete.
The question is: Will we be ready for it?

@salmans35497753@QuantumSN48 Hi Salman, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We recently changed Twitter handles on the @QuantumSN48 account, which is why the link no longer works. We'll get that changed right away!
Two days in and the treasury wallet bounty remains unclaimed.
Fantastic news for our team and the Bittensor devs.
Terrible news for miners looking to claim the 2500 #SN63 alpha up for grabs.
We're looking for the brightest minds to pressure-test and exploit this brand new feature.
Do you have what it takes?
https://t.co/FB9SSRhW3h
Enigma just released its first challenge and it has the potential to be game changing for #Bittensor.
A subnet built around pressure-testing foundational tech, Enigma is turning its attention to Bittensor’s new Treasury Wallet feature, challenging miners to exploit the feature by any means necessary and claim the ~$5k USD up for grabs.
Ensuring this feature is hack-proof (or finding the ways in which it isn’t) will be crucial before subnet owners are willing to build their subnets on top of the feature.
Once this happens, we hope to see more winner-take-all subnets move towards implementing Treasury Wallets and take the steps necessary to build Bittensor into the fully permissionless network it was designed to be.
Treasury Wallets are finally here.
With @opentensor's latest update, the final barriers are gone and we’ve deployed the first-ever Treasury Contract on mainnet.
Wallet: 5GvJQCF5nmnp9y8E6pGKaXqner8LPq7NjDJAgZbPrGaETnun
This is a huge step for both Enigma and the #Bittensor ecosystem in building truly permissionless infrastructure.
While we work with validators to test our subnet code, we’re dropping a live challenge with ~$5k on the line.
Breaking Treasury Wallets
Treasury Wallets enable zero-trust, winner-take-all incentive mechanisms—emission can safely be pooled in a single wallet, since it can only be removed when validator consensus is reached.
This completely removes the ability for owners to run off with pooled miner emission.
These wallets are powerful… but largely untested.
Which makes them vulnerable.
That’s where Enigma comes in -- a subnet designed to solve exactly this kind of problem.
Your Challenge
Break the Treasury Wallet.
By any means necessary.
If you can find a way to access it, the 2500 #SN63 alphas (~$5k) in the wallet are yours.
You can find the full challenge details here: https://t.co/FB9SSRhW3h
