In response to the Prophet Muhammad spreading the message of Islam in Makkah. The Quraysh began to persecute the new Muslims. As a result, the Prophet allowed his followers to migrate. The Negus of Abyssinia, now in modern-day Ethiopia granted the Muslims refuge and security.

The United States National Library of #Medicine credits the hospital as one of the greatest achievements of #Islamic Medieval Society. Medical centres flourished in the East prior to the 800s but the first time a hospital was developed with wards and compartments was then Baghdad

This painting is from, one of the greatest Arabic illustrated manuscripts of all time. It is called “Al Maqamat al-Harriri.” The stories are written by al-Harriri and the paintings are by Yahya Ibn Mahmoud. Pages of the Maqamat can be found in the National Library of France.
