Let there be no doubt this is and has been an ongoing threat to our society and the stability of our government. The emotionally and mentally disturbed have for decades and continue to be a serious threat to our elected leaders; particularly, the POTUS. This is not a new phenomenon, but the resources to deal with it effectively have diminished nationally and placed a greater burden on the U.S. Secret Service to properly deal with the mentally ill threatening individual. Additionally, the heinous political discourse, particularly by the Left in our society continues to heighten the problem and in many instances initiate dangerous and threatening actions by deranged individuals. This must be recognized and addressed as a National issue. The Secret Service will continue dealing with this threat dynamic at the Tactical level, but it must also be addressed at the Strategic level by our mental health community and the congress.

Really?? - “the whole world has come to this same conclusion”?? “Focus less on hiring from high schools for DEI optics…”?? How about bringing yourself up to date and into the current decade, rather than spouting nonsense. The Secret Service has an entirely renewed executive leadership team since Sean Curran became Director, doesn’t hire any law enforcement from high schools, already hires qualified former military, follows this Administrations policy of eliminating DEI. We now have a retired Agent commenting on national media about not taking a President to a hotel event without closing down the entire hotel. Why not just screen everyone in Washington, DC daily? He also mysteriously claims he was advising President Bush (43) not to go to certain events, when he was never in a position to do so. Working Agents and CAT members are not counseling the POTUS on security operations; a significant responsibility of the Division’s top Supervisors, particularly, the Special Agent In Charge. He was none of the above. When are we going to recognize the Secret Service security plan for the WHCD worked and the assailant was stopped. As long as we are a free people in a freedom loving Nation, the Secret Service responsibilities will continue to be immense. Attempts on President’s go back to 1865 and the fact that they occur is not a commentary on the Secret Service and its leadership, but our society overall.
