🤓 In fact, these extracts ARE consistent with City's case. I have not reviewed the full report but those 2 extracts distinguish debt and equity from subsidies. Once debt is raised or equity is issued, the cash proceeds become "liquidity" of Etihad.
Subsidies are, in this sense, gifts and the funder gets nothing. Equity is dilutive and shareholder loans are repayable. Neither are "subsidies". This detail does matter and is potentially undermined elsewhere in those docs. I haven't checked.
PS I'm not putting a disclaimer on every tweet about the merits of the appeal.

Nothing to see here
Still, it’s those arrogant, banana waving, self deprecating City fans that have no shame
The central pillar of the Premier League's case against City is that Sheikh Mansour secretly funded substantial portions of the Club's sponsorship agreements with Abu Dhabi-owned companies, artificially inflating City's commercial revenue.
City denies this, maintaining that the financial support came from the Abu Dhabi government—the sponsoring companies' shareholder—not from City's owner. That distinction matters.
Mansour privately owns City through ADUG. The Abu Dhabi government owns the sponsoring companies. They're not legally the same entity, even though Mansour is well-connected with the government.
And it bears repeating that state-owned sponsorships are hardly unusual. For example, Arsenal's principal sponsor, Emirates Airline, is wholly owned by Dubai's government. Arsenal also received millions from Visit Rwanda. Manchester United's sponsors include state-owned Malaysia Airlines and Visit Malta.
There's nothing inherently improper about a government providing financial support to companies it owns. So if, as City insists, the sponsorship money at issue came from the Abu Dhabi government, not ADUG, the foundation of the Premier League's disguised owner-funding allegation collapses.
So did the anonymous commission get this right? What's so frustrating is that the media and punditry seem almost entirely uninterested in this question.
Instead, we get relentless calls for severe punishment before City's appeal has even been heard, based on blind faith in an anonymous Premier League panel citing undisclosed and unexplained evidence.
That's why City supporters need to keep asking the questions everyone else seems determined to ignore.

@andynwoodard@TheRealFbloke For what it's worth, I was answering a question, not summoning up a comment out of the blue. There is context to what I posted.
@andynwoodard@TheRealFbloke The ~£900m is the difference between what was recorded and what was alleged to be actually funded by sponsors. That is the judgment of the KCs.
That is not the same as saying revenue was overstated by ~£900m.
@RossWood87@TheRealFbloke Correct, the £900m+ "overstatement" assumes the amounts claimed to have not been funded directly by Etihad/ Etisalat are £0, regardless of what actual FMV would/ could have been.
@TheRealFbloke PL investigation based on leaked emails, which came out/ only cover up to 2018. That is their starting evidence, hence no info pertaining to period thereafter (barring our apparent non-cooperation since investigation opened).
