No President can fix it because you can't fix it without taking an axe to social security and medicare, or dramatically raising taxes. Both things would cost a President their head politically. Voters won't have it, and they don't understand or care about the math.

So we'll just wait for the eventual debt crisis, or the automatic cuts, and do it the hard way because we lack the societal maturity to proactively fix the problem.

If social security and medicare (both its costs and its tax revenue) vanished from our budget, we'd actually run a surplus through 2050. They are the entire problem. Things like fraud and waste are good to stop, but barely make a dent.

NEW: @FoxNews asked Democratic Reps. Don Beyer (D-VA) and Suhan Subramanyan (D-VA) during their ICE press conference in VA today about the illegal alien arrested in Fairfax County for the stabbing murder of a mom near a trail. Their responses:

BREAKING: I'm told by federal source that the suspect arrested in Fairfax County, VA for the stabbing murder of a mother near a jogging trail in Great Falls, VA is a Salvadoran illegal alien who was caught and released at the border by the Biden admin in El Paso, TX in April 2024. Fairfax County Police announced the arrest of 19-year-old Alexis Antonio Cedillos-Campos this morning in connection to the stabbing killing of Carmen Lizet Puch on Monday and released a photo of his arrest.

I've also included a photo of Cedillos-Campos from when he was in Border Patrol custody in 2024, courtesy of a federal source. NBC Washington reports Puch was 42-years-old and had a young daughter.

NEW: The company behind a recent poll that showed Karen Bass with a 12-point lead over Nithya Raman for LA mayor & showed Bass collecting most of Spencer Pratt's prior support has admitted their poll was FAKE and was intended as a "social experiment" to see how a poll could spread in the media ecosystem without verification.

The company, Median Strategies, also conducted a recent poll in Wisconsin that had socialist gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong up by 20 points. Hong lost her primary.

It was all bogus.

I’m told by a federal source that this “West Hollywood man” is a Brazilian national who has had a final deportation order since 2018. A judge granted him withholding of removal, which means he can’t be deported to Brazil, but he can be deported to another country.

its not a serious paper Brad, @sciam and I'll tell you why in one single paragraph.

A 2003 paper about the chaotic first 2 years transition of Tawain's paper based HC system to Single Payer, which suggested that Tawain eliminated fraud and cut 8% of HC costs. The Yale paper decided that they could apply the same 8% to the cost of HC in the USA and save $265b in a transition to M4A. $265B, Thats more than the cost of HC at the VA, Tricare and DOD combined. That's about 1/3 of the Defense budget. Unserious.

We need to change HC in this country. It's a clusterfuck. The last thing we need is politicians, on either side, spewing nonsense to create headlines and talking points.

And if you got this far, it assumes that all hospitals, Mayo Clinic, Stanford, etc, etc, will be able to change to Medicare rates and make it up in administrative savings and bad debt. As if all hospitals are the same. Sure.
