There's a crucial distinction missing from this.
Getting what we want, without clarifying our desires, is a path to suffering and destruction. That's true for us as individuals and as a culture.
Clarified desire is where a good world begins.

The first step is to recognize that taste, design, craft and point of view are key.
But important to recognize: this is just the first step of a lifelong journey.
@TaraViswanathan Such a beautiful story ♥️♥️♥️. Also shows how vulnerable the elderly are as technology speeds past them and more of the world is digital.
Thoughts are the output of the thinker, and they are heard by the thinker as well. Self-referential, yet we value observability so we know where we’re at. Our AI needs to see how it’s doing from time to time.
PlasticList—a project to quantify plastics found in specific foods we eat—was just published.
A few things that stood out:
• Plastic chemicals were found in 86% of the foods tested
• No difference between water in bottled plastic vs. glass
• Food that spent 45 mins in the takeout containers showed 34% higher levels
• Significant plastics were found in foods produced in the 1950s
• LaCroix is safe (phew!)

Reflecting on how we breathe our consciousness into different mediums. I tend to embody mine, which means I like in-person interaction. I admire those who’ve learned to inhabit the digital body (eg Slack, X), expanding reach and shareability.
Leadership is to be a lightning rod for a mission or idea - to make known to the people who already share the same dream that there is a place for them. To be a steward of that collective energy as it seeks to manifest and define itself.
When we acknowledge our need to be acknowledged, we begin to slow our knee jerk reaction to disconnection. We begin to discover our own object permanence, be our own existential affirmation. Aliveness is found first in our own experience before the experience of others.
The atomic unit of human relationship is contact. Physical touch, words, products built - we seek to make contact with others. Hurting someone making contact rather than let go. Lamenting a breakup is an attempt to preserve contact.
We choose in many cases to harm ourselves or others over the pain of disconnection. We’d rather get someone’s attention when they overlook us, maintain a phantom relationship over being alone. We’re sending out a ping for fear of the existential void.
@davideagleman@davideagleman such important questions. Maybe AI will teach humans how to interact with different “personalities” in a safe environment. Perhaps it can teach us how to relate, or even exhaust the saccharine forms of connection that social media and technology facilitate today.
There should be a Mother’s Day for founders. Sleepless nights, heartache, wanting nothing but the best, protecting it from bad influences. Here’s to the startup mommas out there. #startupmommas#founders
