Provocative first session of Day 3 #GSCmeeting24.
In fragile settings, nothing we do is neutral. Everything we do will have positive and negative consequences. So how do we minimise and mitigate against secondary negative effects?
The new Global Shelter Cluster Strategy launched at #GSCmeeting24!
Lots to consider, but of particular relevance to QSAND are:
🌍 Improve environmental impact
🏁 Enable recovery and durable solutions from the start
📢 Advocate for S&S responses

Great to see QSAND being used in a new and different way, supporting an emergency shelter design that runs entirely on renewable energy - read more about the BJTU+ Solar Decathlon Project here!
It's exciting to see our paper published on the amazing work of the BJTU+ team.
Sustainability, resilience and energy issues need to be integrated into shelter action. The BJTU+ team propose a way to do so.

"QSAND is very relevant to both practitioners and academicians in determining sustainability of shelter projects. Bravo!"
"Thank you so much for the interesting training. It was great and relevant."
Thanks to all who participated, we look forward to engaging more in the future!
This morning, QSAND Programme Lead @GeorgeFoden presented a QSAND introductory workshop at the Malawi Shelter Cluster Meeting in Senga, Salima District.
Later today we will conduct a training exercise, and looked more closely at the interlinked issues of shelter and energy
The Malawi Shelter Cluster Coordination Meeting begins with an overview of the activities members have been engaged with, particularly in response to Cycle Freddy
Vincent Mwale of Mzuzu University's Department of Energy Systems on the importance of ensuring energy resilience in rural communities.
Renewable minigrid solutions were presented, and the Shelter Cluster participants are keen to see how they can support at the household level.
