@fllingblue @Katai_Loves @Sinc3r3lv (2) learn the nuances of every foreign language, and it’s just not fun to have your name mispronounced every time. Mandarin doesn’t even have a V sound, so of course my Mandarin teacher gave me a new name for when I speak Mandarin too. it’s normal.

@fllingblue @Katai_Loves @Sinc3r3lv that obviously depends on the languages. my native language is Polish and my actual name is ‘Ewa’. i change it to ‘Ava’ when i’m speaking english because the languages are phonetically different. every language has phonetic differences and we can’t expect random people to (1)

@Katai_Loves @Sinc3r3lv it’s because it makes speech flow better and it’s easier for native speakers to pronounce the name. very normal to do in language classes, and if you think that’s weird then you just don’t get it (and that’s fine) but it doesn’t make it wrong to do so
