The new #Imagination Technologies PowerVR kernel driver for Linux looks very promising. They aim on supporting among others Series6XT, on which the GPU of Apple A8 and A8X are based on.

Imagine if mobile Apple chipsets got GPU support in Linux faster than #Asahi's M1 😜

@CalcProgrammer1 S9 uses Exynos 9810.

I believe it's very similar to 8895 in any case. But really, nothing works as of now :)

Porting clock driver would be the first step in bringing up different hardware, i2c is probably the second thing after clocks.

@leiser_patrick @konradybcio To be fair, PowerVR part isn't too needed, the thing we need is Apple EDP controller (yes the screen is connected with DisplayPort). Which would be... very difficult probably :/ Would also need Apple DART IOMMUs, luckily the disp0 ones seems to work, unlike the ISP ones. 4/4

@leiser_patrick @konradybcio About UIs, we can get anything that works with a framebuffer which is really every UI given the new simpleDRM driver. About GPU integration, I think the PowerVR Series6XT has some support, but I don't know how it works, and it would also need probably additional support. 3/4
