SQL BASICS
SELECT – Used to choose which columns you want to see.
SELECT first_name, country
FROM Customers;
Returns only the first_name and country columns.
WHERE – Filters rows based on a condition.
SELECT *
FROM Customers
WHERE age > 25;
Returns customers older than 25.
DISTINCT – Removes duplicate values.
SELECT DISTINCT country
FROM Customers;
Returns each country only once.
GROUP BY – Groups similar rows together, often used with aggregate functions like COUNT(), SUM(), or AVG().
SELECT country, COUNT(*)
FROM Customers
GROUP BY country;
Shows how many customers belong to each country.
ORDER BY – Sorts the results.
SELECT *
FROM Customers
ORDER BY age DESC;
Displays customers from oldest to youngest.
LIMIT – Restricts the number of rows returned.
SELECT *
FROM Customers
LIMIT 3;
Returns only the first 3 rows.
A simple example combining multiple clauses:
SELECT country, COUNT(*) AS total_customers
FROM Customers
WHERE age > 20
GROUP BY country
ORDER BY total_customers DESC
LIMIT 3;
This finds the top 3 countries with the most customers over the age of 20.
Day 2 of #60DaysOfDE
- Python Variables
Used to store values
Python has no identifier for a variable, a variable is created the moment you store value in it.
Case sensitive: ‘a’ and ‘A’ are two different things. A can’t overwrite ‘a’ and vice versa.
NAMING VARIABLES:
Camel case(myVariableName) and snake case(my_variable_name) is allowed.
What is not allowed:
1_my_var : can’t start with numbers
_MY_VAR : can’t start with _
My var: can’t have spaces in between
Operators:
The meaning of an operator may change based on the data types of the values next to it.
For example, + is the addition operator when it operates on two integers or floating-point values. However, when + is used to combine two string values, it joins the strings as the string concatenation operator.
f-strings
Think of an f-string as a way to put variable values directly inside a string.
There are only two rules:
1. Put f before the quotes.
2. Put variables inside {}.
