These two catalysts could have a significant impact on the sector.

$INFQ Sensing: What Comes Next
Part 1: How Big Is the Opportunity?
Most investors still treat quantum sensing as the side story while waiting for fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Near term, that may be backwards.
Before getting into Infleqtion’s Exaqt gravity and inertial-sensing family, its Q-NAV program, critical-mineral mapping and GPS-denied navigation, it helps to remind ourselves of the scale of the global quantum-sensing opportunity.
@Infleqtion, citing research from global consulting firm McKinsey, estimates that the quantum-sensing market could approach $30 billion by 2040, spanning precision timing, navigation, gravity measurement, RF detection and other high-precision sensing applications.
That is not one product serving one market.
It potentially reaches aircraft, ships, submarines, drones, satellites, defense networks, telecommunications, energy grids, financial markets, critical infrastructure, data centers and distributed AI systems.
And that $30 billion forecast generally assumes relatively normal development and adoption timelines.
It may not fully account for what happens if GPS disruption, escalating competition with China and Russia, electronic warfare, expanding space infrastructure, rapid data center growth and government-backed deployment force the United States and allied nations to modernize critical systems faster than originally expected.
Data center expansion, electric grid modernization and the broader nuclear and fusion-energy buildout are especially worth watching.
Infleqtion has already demonstrated Tiqker distributing GPS-independent precision timing between operating data centers, while its DOE-backed work now spans grid optimization, nuclear applications, deployable atomic sensing and fusion-energy research through programs including ARPA-E’s ENCODE initiative and the Genesis Mission.
As AI infrastructure places greater demands on power generation, grid stability and distributed computing, Infleqtion is positioning both its sensing and computing platforms across the emerging energy stack.
Today, Tiqker appears to be Infleqtion’s most commercially mature sensing product. DARPA recently highlighted it as an @sbirgov transition success: an initial $1.75 million @DARPA SBIR investment ultimately led to $20.75 million in Phase III funding, including approximately $11 million through the DoW APFIT program to accelerate procurement and fielding.
Phase III is an important distinction. It is no longer the early proof-of-concept or prototype stage funded through the SBIR program. Phase III means the technology has entered the commercialization and operational-transition phase, using non-SBIR funding for activities such as additional testing, system integration, procurement, production or deployment for government and commercial customers. It does not mean every deployment is complete, but it is strong evidence that Tiqker has moved beyond laboratory R&D and is being pulled toward real operational use.
Quantum Spectrum, Infleqtion’s RF-sensing platform, is also moving quickly. It was the company’s second-largest contributor to sensing revenue in Q1 2026, with active programs across the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
From what is publicly known today, precision timing and RF sensing likely represent the clearest near-term portions of Infleqtion’s sensing opportunity.
But this week may have brought another category much closer to the commercial conversation.
Matt Kinsella testified before Congress on quantum gravity gradiometry for critical-mineral mapping, while Infleqtion was also selected for DOE Genesis Mission projects involving deployable atomic sensing and advanced energy applications.
Neither development proves commercial scale yet, but together they show government interest moving beyond laboratory research and toward real-world validation and deployment.
Congress also considered the Quantum-Enhanced Critical Minerals Mapping Act, which would establish a quantum-enhanced mineral survey within the USGS Earth MRI program.
That could create the government-backed field testing, geological benchmarks and early funding needed to move quantum gravity gradiometry from promising science toward a commercially deployable exploration tool.
That matters because one of the largest barriers may not be whether the underlying physics works.
It may be who pays to validate it.
Mining companies generally want mature, proven services. Quantum companies face significant costs conducting airborne surveys, integrating equipment and proving performance over known geology.
Government-supported validation could help bridge that gap and potentially place gravity sensing among quantum technology’s earliest commercially meaningful applications.
TAM is not revenue, and no company will capture the entire market.
But this is no longer a purely theoretical opportunity.
Infleqtion is already generating customer activity across precision timing and RF sensing, while government-backed pathways are beginning to emerge for deployable atomic sensing and gravity-based mineral mapping.
The real investor question is not whether a large quantum-sensing market can exist.
It is which categories move from research budgets into procurement first - and how much of that stack Infleqtion can capture.
Quantum sensing should not be treated as a small side business while investors wait for fault-tolerant quantum computing.
$INFQ is already positioned across timing, RF, inertial navigation and gravity sensing.
