Parent hack for an autistic kid: I explain why I'm laughing whenever it could seem I'm laughing at him. "I am so full of delight because you are being exactly yourself right now." I tried this after listening to autistic adults and it's POWERFUL the effect it has on him.

Many people who laugh at autistic traits, such as literal thinking, stimming, needing things a certain way, say they wouldnโt laugh if they were actually autistic. But, thatโs the thing. You donโt know who is autistic. Iโm sitting right in front of you, you just canโt tell.
@AllAutistics It's like humans are supposed to get an instruction manual for how to be a human encoded in their DNA. Autistic persons do not have this manual, resulting in a variety of symptoms from sensory issues to brain processing capabilities.
