Abbott Elementary (great show) was spot-on in its take on gifted programs, but... I still can't think of what I would have preferred as an alternative?

Obviously it's not great to make other kids feel bad. But the ones who are bored out of their skulls because they're 3 months ahead - shouldn't they get something else to do? Or is the least-harm option really just to let them be bored?
